Bougth a 2001 Infinity a few months ago with 11,000 miles and seems to be a great deal for us. Had trouble with bedroom slide took it into Alliance Coach RV in Willwood Fl. While there I asked them to look at brakes because there is a squeek and they said I need new pads at $700.00 worth (for 2 sets; F&R). Want to ride safe and trust they are needed but what about the price.

What chassis is it on? The early Workhorse had a lot of brake problems. These were repair under recall.

I had 155K on air brake pads and they still ahd over half remaining. As much as I like the guys at Alliance I find it hard to believe CC pads would need replaced after 11K miles. Squeaks come from glazing due to non use also...take it somewhere you can do some repeated heavy braking and see if it clears up after that. We tend to use the jake brake a lot and that contributes to glazing due to non use also. Not a bad price for all four corners though...

I also question the need for brake pads. They should last about 100,000 miles.

Sounds like a local shop I took my car to. During the courtesy inspection they said that my brakes were "worn" and should be replaced. When I asked how much material was left on the pad they couldn't answer as it was a visual inspection only. Well, my brakes were only 3 months old and I knew they didn't need to be replaced.

Yes, you brakes are worn. And they should be unless you are Flinstone stopping. But, unless the material is worn even with the groove, oiled, breaking apart, or have another defect, you don't need to replace them.

I think I'd look at a couple more shops before I spent any money.

They love to get you on the labor! If you are a DIY'er, (mechanically enclined a must)look into it yourself. A Second opinion won't hurt either. I also realize that if you don't have the tools and place to do the work yourself..be ready to turn loose of the cash. Good luck!

At 11K miles if you need brake pads then the pads are not your main problem.

Disk brake pads are a really easy DIY project. Yes removing and replacing the tires will be the biggest part of the work, unless the rotors need turning. Top line pads for our 1 ton dodge is less than $65, I would ask them why the cost is soooo high? The pads on the F-53, are the same as the F-550 Ford. Call any parts store and ask what the pads cost.

Good luck

I agree if you have the knowledge, tools and place to do the job.
