I would talk with the owners nicely and promise not to tie your dog outside again. The sight of a dog tied up outside is very heart breaking for many people.

Unattended=not around the campsite. I would leave, but not without my money! you want me out for a BS complaint do it right and tell me you want me out, don`t make up reasons! when my dog is out side he is always on a a rope long enough to let him roam to do what he has to do, that is attended!. he is always well within the borders of the site. what if you you were on the other side of your RV, and he just drove by and didn`t see you there?

However, your pet was unattended and I don't think you have much of a leg to stand on in that regard.

Your best bet is to ask to speak with the owner/manager and have an adult discussion.

Good luck.

I guess I'm one of the ones who can't controll thier dog because we use a leash.

Of course we've had close calls with people who have "well behaved" dogs. They always yell out that the dog is harmless. Too bad Diego hates big dogs. I can control Diego but I can't control someone elses dog that is off leash and invades Diego's space.

We had a close call when a german shepard came up and bent down to sniff Diego before I could pick him up. Diego grabbed an ear and went for a ride. Luckily the shepard didn't lose it but I was ticked at the other owner who "thought" they had a well trained dog.

I could see a similar situation where a kid darts over and startles the dog. If you are outside, "attending" to the dog, odds are you can restrain the dog or head the kid off. Inside, there is a good chance you won't know it happened until the kid is bitten.

Maybe your dog would come no matter what when you call and a kid could yank on his ears for an hour with no reaction. As another camper and presumably from the owners point of view, I don't want to deal with. As the owner, I wouldn't want to deal with questions of why one person can ignore the rules but others can't.

The rules probably state no refund and if the action was the result of breaking the rules, they are morally and legally justified in keeping the money. Your only hope is that most owners just want you gone and will give you a refund if you agree to leave.

I would never bring an agressive dog anywhere there would be some type of confrontation. it`s just not smart! especially if I knowingly bring it to a campground where there are kids and other dogs! BTW, my shepherd is the most relaxed dog I have ever had. and I never think twice about leaving him out on a short leash while I`m inside my RV, I`m still there so he is not unattended.

Thanks DOdge...glad to see I am not the only one here who does this. I have always done it, and never had a problem. The only reason I even put the lead on is so no one can say he is unleashed.

That being said...the rule is the rule.

you are in a difficult position. In all states I know of law requires leash and control , which is defined as personal attendance, when in residence in a state licensed property offered to the public in any capacity, public or ptivate.
Dog out and you in, no matter how well behaved your pet is or how restrained, the law is clear.
It is unfortunate that the vast majority of pets and owners like you should be so restricted.
Many ,many pet owners visit us each year with our only comment being pick up, keep quiet, control.
Due to law and liability, even when in the most innocent circumstance a pet is not attended to and causes other visitors concern, it detracts from their enjoyment ,exposes the property to liability.

Thanks for the update bmbsqd...hope it turns out ok for you. You seem to like the park in spite of the issue at hand. That said, it appears this thread has now become one of what exactly defines "Attended vs Unattended". Some seem to feel attended and unattended are the same. Perhaps, as SDcampowneroperater stated, the "rules" should be modified to read "leash and control". Personally, I have always believed unattended meant out of my sight. Attended meant in my sight. IMHO, dog outside, me inside = unattended.....Dennis

You are very lucky the shepard didnt didnt respond in like kind. You probably should train your dog to be more tolerant.
