I have whatever GM installed stock...(one of those that honks the horn and everyone ignores.)
Best burglar alarm is a good automobile insurance policy.

Save your money. Each time a new electronic system is mfg. the bad guys can disable it as soon as it hits the shelves. Bad guy electronic guru's earn a living doing this.
If your worried about parking it long term, disable the truck yourself by pulling the coil wire or disabling the starter.
If they really want it they will flatbed it.

Bark, Bark. Dogs are the best alarm at home or on the road.
Once took my truck to get the oil changed. Left the dog in the backseat. The guy sat in the truck, started it up and about FLEW out of the window when he saw my dog. Luckily it wasn't in D.
Alarms slow criminals down maybe a half second. Spend your money on better insurance and keep your belongings out of the truck.

The steering wheel locking bar slows the bad guys down. They have two types. One has a better key system. You can see it on the steering wheel from outside. Since it is visible and crooks are basically lazy, chances are they will just go to the next vehicle. Another thing you could do is put a switch in the ignition line. I ran mine as concealed as possible and the switch under the drivers seat.

Insurance policy and either a 12 gauge, a .45 pistol or both.
Oh and my truck just has a factory alarm. All they do is make noise anyway, which everyone ignores. They are usually easy to disable anyway.

I have the factory alarm along with a Viper 2way remote alarm, with a 1 mile range. If the viper is tripped it will activate the remote in my pocket, good if Im in a store with the truck in the parking lot. Gives me a chance to correct the deviant citizens thievery. Also the camper door is wired to the Viper. Makes me feel a little better when on vacation, I have lots of goodies in the camper/truck , camaras , laptop etc.
Also a LoJac, and theres always the chipped ignition key.

I also have a Viper installed with a starter immobilizer. Had Best Buy install it. I normally do not deal with Best Buy, I have black balled them.
