I'm considering buying my first 06 Forest River Work and Play 18lt.

http://iowacity.craigslist.org/rvs/2824202039.html

I think I know what to look for, but how do I determine what a fair offer is? I found nada to be helpful, but all the prices are retail and not private party.

http://www.nadaguides.com/RVs/2006/Forest-River-California

I need to haul 1200 lbs of motorcycles with a Jeep liberty CRD Diesel. And it also needs to park in a 28' driveway while still able to open the ramp door facing my garage door without moving it.

Thanks!

Figure 18' box, 23' overall, and at least a 6' door. That's 29'...maybe close enough?

If you keep it light you might be able to pull it off.

Price I think is a tad high.

Good luck!

You're thinking of hauling a toy hauler with a Jeep Liberty? I own a Liberty, nice grocery getter but I know I didn't feel comfortable even towing my boat behind our Liberty. That is a lot of flat frontal area on that trailer, going to be like towing a brick.

The link you need for NADA for that year and model is here

Without any options Avg retail is $6630, so once you add in the real options - don't add what are normal items. They are asking $10k so you have some negotiating room in that price even with options.

Our RV: '07 Winnebago Sightseer 35J
Our Toys: Four Winns Horizon 190, Polaris Sportsman 500's & Honda Recon's

With my garage door open, 29' would put the TH door inside the garage.

My Jeep Liberty crd is rated for 7000 lbs max.

I just looked it up and the max tow rating for the CRD Liberty is 5000lbs, not 7000lbs. That trailer is too heavy and too big for the little Liberty.

He probably owes 10k on it and thinks that's what it's worth.
