We stayed there before the hurricane and it was super nice.
You do have to cross a busy road to get to the beach.

Have not been there, but just left the new Sandpiper Rv park at the north end of the seawall. Great place, walk out the back to the beach, very nice common area with widescreen TV. They are working hard to get the pool finished. We would go back.

I second Sandpiper. It's a brand new park and it's right on Stewart Beach in Galveston. Of all the parks on the island, I would say Sandpiper is number one and Jamica Beach is two.

The state park is outstanding too. Really enjoyed the old architecture there. and the ferry ride was fun.

We stayed at Jamaica Beach the year before the hurricane and it was very nice. Clean restrooms and showers, modern laundry area, very nicely landscaped. I don't think you'll be disappointed. However, we like the state park even more. The only drawback is that it doesn't have sewer hookups, but it has nice restrooms and showers, and it's right on the beach.

We go to Galveston every year. We stay at Delanera because it's on the beach. They don't have a pool but we don't care about that, since we don't have children. We drove down to Jamaica Beach to check it out. It's been redone since the hurricane. They have a small pool and a spray garden. They were putting in miniature golf. It is across the street, but if you have a truck you can drive right up on the beach. The state park is also nice, but no sewer. Have fun!
