I realize that this was in the 80's but I had a 6.2L diesel and got fuel at a major truckstop along I90 in Ohio. It was a bad load of fuel and almost immediately plugged the filter up. Did not carry an extra filter then and learned a lesson. I understand that the new filters are better but it can't hurt to have one. JMHO

In that case, the new filter would have blocked right up too...a bad tank of fuel would need to be removed...THEN a new filter installed

I also do not understand this one. How can you cure a bad load of fuel with a filter?

I often wonder why it is a big deal to carry an extra filter for a diesel when I doubt if anyone carries one for the gas autos on the road?
