This year we are considering: Glacier Nat Park, Olympic Peninsula, Yosemite Nat Park, Vancouver Island or?
Is that a serious question??? While you have some great suggestions, none compare to BC and Vancouver Island. Start Planning!

Don't forget you are going to be in any of those places at the peak season for the entire year. You are likely too late for reservations in Yosemite for that period. You may have the same problem with Glacier and Banff. And you can do long weekend trips from Seattle to the Olympic Peninsula or Victoria/Vancouver Island during the off-season (like fall on the peninsula or spring at Bouchart Gardens in Victoria).

But a scenic loop would be to use I-90 and US 2 to Coeur d'Alene, Kalispell, West Glacier, Going-to-the-Sun Highway, and St. Mary's or Many Glaciers campground on the east side of Glacier. Then head north the short distance to Waterton Lakes NP, then west to Cranbrook, BC and back into the US at Oroville. South to Okanogan and back through the North Cascades on WA 20 or further south via Lake Chelan. Beautiful rivers, lakes, forests, and mountains nearly the entire route and lots of great campground choices (Colorado AAA just started issuing "Woodall's Campground Guides" free; also see campgrounds at "recreation.gov"). And, except in Glacier, you may avoid some of the crowds that are going to be everywhere those particular weeks.

Wherever you choose to go, have a great trip!

We really enjoyed Vancouver Island and spent 2 weeks there many, many years ago. Very dog-friendly, which is actually why we went there as opposed to the US National Parks at the time. I forget the exact routes now, but we did research - may be less expensive to drive into Canada and take their ferry, as opposed to the ferry from the US. We traveled along the eastern coast about half-way, and drove to the northern tip (sorry - I forget the name of the town.) Really, really enjoeyd Vancouver Island - highly recommend it.

North to Jasper, and then down through the Rockies to Glacier and then home. Took us 15 nights, could have been shorter or much longer. We were living in Kenmore at the time, and was our first multi-night trip. 10yrs later and still think about the great hikes in Jasper, the food at the tea house at Lake Louise, and the bears at Glacier. Wonderful memories.

We've picked the Olympics this year because we're a little late for good reservations at some of the other options and we've already done some ground work for this trip. But I think we have the big trip for the next 3-4 years planned now! Thanks for the suggestions!
