We have 2 weeks in late July/early August, a travel trailer, and we'll be leaving from the Seattle area. We're looking at options for a summer road trip. Last year we did the OR coast and had a blast. This year we are considering: Glacier Nat Park, Olympic Peninsula, Yosemite Nat Park, Vancouver Island or?
We have two dogs, but they can stay in the trailer a day or two here and there if needed in a national park. We like to hike, walk on the beach, bum around small tourist towns... Any thoughts?

Ever been to Chelan? Big lake, nice parks, touristy, water recreation, and not far. And you can spend most of your time relaxing instead of driving!

Some of my best 2 week trips out of Seattle (with a small dog) have been:
- The borders of Oregon, from the SE corner of Washington down through the Oregon Hells Canyon area to Jordan Valley, W across Oregon 'outback' (Steens Mtn etc), Oregon coast, and back north through the Oregon Cascades. May be better in May than July.
- Idaho loop - Lewiston, US95 to McCall, scenic byways through Stanley, Callis, Salmon, US93 to Missoula, Mt 200 back to north Idaho, home on WA 20.
- Vancouver Island backroads - Gulf Islands, Port Renfrew, Bamfield (logging rds), Port Alberni, Campbell River etc
- North of Vancouver loop - Whistler, Lillooet, back through Manning Prov Park.
- Bella Coola loop
- BC Kootenays - all the roads and hot springs around Nelson
- Canadian Rockies loop - E on US2, Keller Ferry across Lake Roosevelt, north to BC, BC 3 east to Alberta, 22 and 40 to Kananaskis country and Banff, Jasper, back on 5 to Kamloops with stop in Wells Gray,
With a dog we haven't done much in the US national parks. BC Prov Parks and Canadian Nat Parks generally allow dogs (except beaches, same as WA state parks). US Nat Rec areas are also ok with dogs, and US Nat Forests.

Don't forget the Canadian Rockies! Banff, Lake Louise, Jasper. Glacier, Kootenay Parks too. Some of the best scenery anywhere, great hikes, lakes to canoe, tours. That area is closer to Seattle than Glacier/Yellowstone/Grand Teton. Nice to have choices!! Wherever you wind up, smell the flowers and enjoy!
