thinking of getting one of these but i am not sure i like the whole idea of it getting jambed up by something. What do all of you think of it? Any bad experience? Anything better you would suggest? All input is welcomed and appreciated.

I use mine at home. Our RV pad is about 90 ft from the Sewer Lift Station.
I ran an underground run of 2" pvc from the RV pad to the lift station. I use a 6 ft section of polyethylene tubing to connect the Macerator Pump the the underground PVC pipe. It's a dream! If you can keep the kids/grandkids from throwing matchbox cars down the toilet...you should be okay. The Stainless Steel blade will chop up anything that would NORMALLY be in a grey or black tank.
Do a Froogle.com search --- prices on those things are usually all over the place.
About the only thing I do to mine is use a set of long nose needle nose pliers to remove any hair that may wrap it's self around the blade...
I carry it with me in the RV...for the just in case I need it...but really I've only used it at home for dumping/flusing the tanks.

They are great especially when there is no other option. I use mine at home. I don't have access to a clean-out, so I pump to the washer drain through a 75' run of 1" garden hose.

Another option would be build your own Macerator Pump.

Love ours, only had one incident and that was when someone flushed a baby wipe down the toilet and I saw it coming thru the clear pipe before the flojet but decided to see what would happen.

We have to use ours a lot doing volunteer work and would not be without one. Never use a 1/2" hose, anything 5/8" and above will work fine. If you need to pump this is the way to go.

We have a macerator but not a Flojet. We use a 1" hose and it works great. Our 5'er dump is really low so we run into problems occasionally with an uphill run like where we are now. Nice and clean to use. If you have guests, especially females, warn them about what to put in the toilet. Feminine products don't go thru the macerator... That's the voice of experience!
