....has been blowing the fuse so I took it in for repair and just got a call that told me the fuel station pump motor is bad and they want over $1k to fix. I have an `04 Thor Vortex WTB26 TH. Thought it was going to be as simple as a bad ground but I guess not. Dealer says the fuel motor itself is $793 but after shipping and labor it will end up north of $1K. Guess I`m going back to 5 gallon gas cans as I can`t afford this repair at this time.

That is out of line IMO.

These Fuel pumps are typically under $300.00 retail and your problem is probably just swollen gears in the pump end. Ask them about this-as it has been a common problem. Depending on pump brand, Graco, Great Plains are the common ones, a pump repair kit is $20.00 or so.

This is the pump on my trailer:

That's outrageous. We had our neighborhood RV shop replace the pump on our fuel station and it was less than $300 parts & labor. I don't think there is much difference between pumps.

I'd siphon before paying that price...

I had one that had jammed and I reversed the wiring, ran it for about 10 seconds, then ran it forward no problem. I now run the pump every month for about 3 minutes just as a test.

I have a similar T H, the first time the pump quit, I changed the gears and it worked O K (Noisey) for awhile. The second time, I changed the gears I could not get it to stop leaking, seems like the cover is warped. I now have a 25 gal generator fuel tank !!
I make sure the "toys" are full before we leave and haul more fuel in the old fashion way, Gas Jugs.

Think I'd stay away from that dealer unless you like a light feeling wallet.

That is totally amazing. Unbelievable! With estimates like that the dealer doesn't need a gun to steal. I would turn him in to whatever affiliation he is connected with. I think at one time or another everyone who has a gas pump has had the same problem. I went to the dealer I bought the trailer from with the pump problem. He sold me a pump rebuild kit with new gears and gasket for $40.00. The hardest part of the rebuild is getting that skinny little gasket into the slot.... But, if you think the price is in line let me know. I will fly to your nearest airport, hire a cab to your location, have him wait while I rebuild your pump and return me to the airport..
Seriously, it's a shame we are subjected to thieves like that... Good luck... And keep these warnings coming... IMO..

Or maybe we've been trolled ????
