Hello . On impulse I decided after a 20 year gap to go back into camping so we bought a little guy camper( too old for tent camping)It isn't really a pop up but similar. Was wondering if this is the right place to post.
A little nervous we won't recapture the special times we had 20 years ago. We won't have our children with us as they are adults now but we still enjoy hiking( short hiking).
Curious if there are any other older campers and how do they enjoy camping?

Welcome........

Yes this is the place: Advice, suggestions, help......you can get it all here.

Glad to hear you are back to camping. You may not recapture the 'special times' from 20 yrs. ago because you are older and no kids.
BUT you sure can experience NEW special times because you are older and no kids

Get out...go camping......make new memories!
And if you have questions/concerns.......ask. Someone here will have an answer.
Might even be the correct one too

I am also a newbie back into camping after 10 years of not owning an RV. Of course I don't know how old is old. I semi-retired in 95.

Welcome to the forum. I have gotten a lot of good information on this site.

Welcome! We are also empty nesters who got back into it after a layoff. We love the freedom this lifestyle affords us now, as we go where we want, when we want, and do what we want. That said, we still have the kids, and grandkids, come along with us sometimes. Livin' the dream!

Welcome. We camped from time to time when our kids were young and once they were in school hardly ever. At the time we had an old tent trailer and once it died we basically stopped for almost 18 years. We bought an old Class A around 8 years ago and use it quite a bit. Another limiting factor for us was that my wife had some medical issued and landed up in a wheelchair. Visting anyone was a royal pain as everyones house has steps and even inside not everything was accessible. With the motorhome we can park and they visit with us. Has worked out quite good and now we are away from home around 3-4 months of the year. Been a great time.

yes, you can. In fact just about any section is fine. if a moderator thinks it should be some place else, they will move it. Mostly they move posts to get more coverage for you and a wider range of answers

Welcome to RV-Net just wonder what you call a little guy camper - we downsized to a 18 foot TT but only after 18 months being without a camper. As some one else stated due to my wife's disability having our own place when we visit family & friends have also fount that works the best for us. We named ours "The Little One"

Welcome to the forum and I can assure you there are many of us “old” campers here. We’ve been camping since 1962 and have gone through the tent, PU and TT exercise. We started out camping with kids and then they grew up. But then along came the grandkids and we’ve now gone through most of them, the granddaughters are teenagers and we’re slowly losing them to their peers. Now great grandkids are starting to come along, but I doubt I can keep up the pace with them. So if you can hang in there you may get the opportunity again to recapture those special times.

Often it’s just the DW and I now and we have our own special times, they’re just less active and quieter than when the kids are with us. But there’s something to be said for that, too, in some ways it’s nice to keep your own schedule and do what you want without being concerned whether others are enjoying themselves. We camp often, mostly in national forests and parks and we do a lot of hiking, I’m too antsy to sit anywhere for long. But we also just wander around and see the sights and do all those touristy things, too. So we still enjoy the camping, it’s just different from when we had the kids along. And even I have to admit I sometimes miss the energy of the young ones.

So I wouldn’t worry about whether you’ll enjoy camping again, you’ll have plenty of enjoyable experiences with each other. And as said, if time allows grandkids will come along and you’ll get to do it all over again and wonder why you wished for that.

Hey!

I don't suppose you were the lucky winners here:Little Guy Trailer on "Let's make a Deal".

Those are nice little units, and I'm sure you'll have a great time with yours.
We use our little trailer a lot as a couple, or with the grandkids, and even for solo trips when one of us feels like getting away alone.

The only real downside to NOT having kids along is that it's harder to "justify" the s'mores ritual...

But we always find a way!

Glad to see some other empty nesters. I am sure we would like an Rv better but thought we would start back smaller. This warm winter makes me want to go camping but think we will wait until spring
We live in Ky but go to the Carolina's several times a year. Not sure what our first camping venture will be
Look forward to talking to all of you
