i am new to Class C's and was wondering about the Transit Bars. I have searched the forum and found that only about 50 percent actually use them. I need to know, should there be two transit bars per slideout. My Jayco Greyhawk has two slides, but only has two transit bars total. Did my dealer short me two?

My unit came with one slideout and one bar. The dealer said most people don't use them. It's been debated on the forum several times, some use them and some don't. I still use mine, but feel kind of silly about it.

Some folks think that the transit braces are to keep the slideout from ending up on the road after a hard right turn!

They actually snug up the slideout seals to keep out the weather and road dust while traveling. I use them everytime we hit the road. Even on rainy days the interior stays dry and snug!

I would guess that you would use them on top of the slide, rather than one on either side?

Our Outlook has two slides and no bars or other slideout restraints. Nothing mentioned about them in the owners manual either.

Our Greyhawk has 2 slides and 4 transit bars (slide locks). I usually use one slide lock per slideout when traveling out of town. Although I've traveled 100+ miles not realizing the slidelocks where not in place and did not have an issues even when driving through rain.

To the OP - yes, you should have received two slide locks per slide. I'd ask the dealer about it, but not sure its worth fighting over if they are resistant.

Mine has one slide and came with one bar. I figured Winnebago bought it for a reason so I use it. Yes, they only include one. It takes almost no time to install/remove and the key for the slide lockout is on it.

Ours has 2 slides, 1 slide uses 1 transit bar and has one sticker on the inside back of the slide-out frame marked 'transit bar'. The other slide-out uses 2 S hooks connected by seatbelt like but wider fabric. The 2 S hooks hook to a ring on the floor on one end and on the back of the dinette on the other. What I recall hearing somewhere is that yes, the slide-out motor brake normally holds the slide-out in, but under evasive maneuvers to avoid an accident the additional forces generated may exceed the slide-out brake capability. That is where the transit bars will help to hold the slide-outs in. The dealer's comment though was "nobody uses them, it is just CYA for the Mfgr.". Perhaps that is why there were 3 in the closet.
