My Delorme BT-20 does not connect with my Toshiba Windows 7 64 bit laptop or my wife's HP Windows 7 64 bit laptop (both work fine with bluetooth mice). The BT-20 still works nicely with my older Toshiba XP laptop running Delorme SA. According to Delorme tech support there is an issue with the BT-20 and Windows 7 that is not likely to be resolved. I am looking for a new replacement bluetooth puck GPS receiver that is compatible with Windows 7. Do you have any suggestions? I have done some research and there does not appear to be much out there.

We have the same setup from Delorme and Windows 7-64. It's a nonworking situation. Window 7 32 bit will work with the BT-20, but not 64. I checked with Delorme over a year ago and they said that they were working on a patch. For that matter a lot of our older software is non-op with the 64 bit computers. ie Brother Int. kept us waiting for over 10 months for a promised patch to operate machine embroidery equipment. In the end they only offered a new program at many $$$. We found it cheaper to buy a good used 32 bit laptop on EBay.
Sorry if this post seems long, I lacked the time to make it shorter.

Thanks for the input.
I discovered today while doing more research on this that a com port emulator might possibly resolve this Windows 7 64 bit issue. I found reference on a forum about a similar USGlobalSat GPS bluetooth receiver that would not work with Windows 7 64 bit but a second party com port emulator SW package (from eterlogic.com) corrected the issue.

I have a Telenav Bluetooth receiver like this that works fine with both my Win 7 64-bit netbook and Win 7 32-bit laptop.

The Delorme BT40 GPS will work with Street Atlas 2012 on a Win7 64 bit machine.

I e-mailed eterlogic asking specific questions regarding the use of their com port emulator with the BT-20 and Windows 7 64 bit but have not received a reply yet. Have you found out anything more?

Dick,
I briefly looked into eterlogic and since a 64 bit VSPE license is $24.95 single use / $499.00 redistributable and we already procured an older and working 32 bit pc. Hence, problem solved for now.
I figured the success of using a virtual port emulator with the BT-20 was unknown and as another poster had stated newer hardware (BT-40) and software was developed.
So sorry, no, I have not discovered anything new.

BT-40?? I can not find anything about a BT-40. Delorme does show an LT-40 but they have no details anymore on their web site so I suspect it may be discontinued. LT-40 did not have bluetooth capability as far as I can tell.
