After reading so many positive posts on the Jack here i bought one today, the full kit and intended to remove the original WINEGARD SENSAR ANTENNA and put the Jack in it's place however the location of the antenna base is in front of the forward AC unit and seeing as they are both the same hight off the roof will this screw up my reception??

Thanks in advance!

I would imagine reception will be affected somewhat. I would just set the Jack on the roof on its new base before pulling the winegard and connect the coax to see how it compares. You won't be able to rotate it for this test, so manually aim the same direction as the batwing. Preferably pointed toward a station in line with the AC unit to see how adverse the effect will be. Personally I think it will work fine.

I'd expect too see some signal degradation if you're situated where you have to aim the Jack "through" the A/C to receive a station in that direction. How much it will degrade the signal would be a function of the transmitter power and the distance.

If you can return it, you might do so and just get the replacement head unit. Much easier to install and no question of AC blocking the signal.

I thought of that Sid,but that "forgetting to lower the tv antenna" as i drive off down the road like a total boob gives me so much joy in life, lol,,but the mount has a signal meter built into it and i almost wore out my one knee begging Frau Blücher to let me buy it so i'm hoping this will work out!

Doesn't look like the old antenna is far enough away from the air conditioner to instal your new Jack antenna in the same spot. The manufacturer's instructions are that the center of the hole for the antenna must be a Minimum of 20" from anything more than 8" high. Looking at the photo it looks like you may not have enough room to rotate the head properly as well as having interference problems.I think you need to locate the new antenna in a different spot.

X2, I have a situation similar to the OP's so that's why I'm gonna go with the Wingman head on my Sensar.

I would opt for keeping the elevated antenna. There are many things inside an air conditioner that will do bizarre things to a television signal...the farther away from clutter and electric appliances the better. An A/C unit has large metal mass, the evaporator fin assembly and rotating magnets on the compressor motor...none of which is conducive to a good signal.

I have a Jack on my 5ver, had one on my TT, too, and they are great antennas, but, nothing can beat clear unobstructed view in all directions and elevation, for receiving a signal.

My 2 cents, your mileage may vary...
