We have Dish network at home, and we bought a 211k just for our motorhome. It's billed $7 on our home account.
According to the Dishformyrv web site, if we want DNS service from dish, we'd have to have a separate account for our mh. We don't want to do that because it would be too costly.
I just read a post referring to DNS service from AllAmericanDirect. I checked their website, but I can't tell if It's what I'm looking for.
For those of you using this, which coast comes in on satellies 110, 119, &129?
Would I still have to have a separate account just for my mh, even though this is a separate company from dish?
Is this service per month or permanent?
Will I lose my locals on my other receivers at home?

It is not possible to subscribe to DNS on a home account. You MUST set up a separate RV account to subscribe.

The 110,119,129 satellite arc is generally referred to as the WESTERN ARC. It works fine for everyone but us New Englanders, where those sats are very low in the sky. Anywhere east of the Mississippi, you should consider locking onto the Eastern Arc sats @ 61.5, 72, 77. You can aim much higher in the sky and get reception in treed areas much easier. Lastly, check the locals availability for the area you are in. It may be limited to one arc or the other, for example, my Providence RI locals are only available on the 61.5 sat.....

Here is what the law says.
If, as of December 8, 2004, you did not receive or try to receive distant signals, you are not eligible for distant service if local channels are offered.

As an RVer, you are eligible to have DNS for your motorhome, but it would have to be a separate account, if locals Dish offers locals in your area.

AllAmericanDirect may be a way around the above law. Since they would bill you separately, I probably qualifies as a separate account. If so, it is a loophole that creates a variance from what the law seems to intend, particularly if that gives you both locals and DNS on the same receivers.

Download, fill out RV request, let them know which networks you want, pricing is listed under their FAQ's.

I have 1 receiver, service address is my house in NV. I do not pay for local channels ( I initially did have Vegas locals, would lose them when I left the area, but discontinued them when we began traveling a lot). I get 4 Networks, east and west coast feeds, SD, $14.99 monthly. They all show up on sat 119. You can also pay semi-annual and annually.

I was told by All American Direct, that I could even discontinue DISH service, and still receive the feeds from them.

Works for us.

You do not have to have a separate RV account. I have had local distant channels
with All American Direct for years and only have my home account. I did have to supply proof of RV ownership.

I have two Dish receivers with one in the house and one in the RV. I have my regular local channels on both receivers and the receivers will pick up those channels as long as I'm close to my home, with in a hundred miles or so. I was living in my RV out of state for work so I added on a separate account (because it's really a different company) the All American Direct channels. I did have to provide an RV registration just to prove I actually owned one. Once that was set up several months later I asked them to set up the channels on my other receiver so I now have Dish channels including my regular locals on both receivers along with All American Direct on both receivers. One account with Dish and one account I pay annually with All American Direct. I think it was $159/year last time I renewed and that's for eight channels, ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox and both the east and west coast (New York & the bay area, not sure if that's the LA or San Fransico)

Some might be confused with All American Direct. This is a completely separate service from Dish however the channels come through you're regular Dish receiver on channels 241-248. If you turned off your Dish service you would still get the All American Direct channels.

Some people call and have their service moved to where ever they are in order to pick up the locals. Problem is, well besides dealing with an operator all the time is if one of your receivers stays home and is set to record local channels it will not because you moved your local channels to another city and you can't pick up those channels at your stick house until you switch back to your regular locals.

I like All American Direct because once the service is set up, you do nothing. When at your home address or close to it, you pick up your regular locals plus your distant networks, then when you travel from your home area, you still get the distant channels no matter where you are but you lose your regular local channels. Clear as mud?

Very good explanation, Houtrz. I did not want to lose our locals at the house, and this tells me we will not.
Thanks to all for your replies.

IF this is a way around the local channel rules, expect the loophole to be closed before long. Subscribing to DNS on a home account, violates the laws, which were implemented to protect local channels and their advertisers. This was a huge issue several years ago with both DirecTV & DISH and the laws have not changed.

DirecTV- take receiver(s)from house and put in RV. Get to winter destination change address to your new "home". Go home after your stay change address back to your home. No charge for locals.
