My air horns sound SICK. Instead of giving a loud warning blast, they give more of a moan. Any constructive ideas?

Thanks,

Sounds like a lack of proper air pressure, maybe an orfice in the air line is plugged somewhere. I don't know how to trouble shoot but start at the horn itself and work backwards along the air line would be my guess

Pull the covers off the front and make sure the trumpets are clear of obstructions.

Would a train whistle rather then a air hour be the right thing for on my truck?

Perhaps the pressure switch has failed. JC Witney has all the parts you will need. My press switch and solinod up to the horns needed replacing, neither comes with the kit. They are sold seperate.

The solenoid where the air hose to the horn attaches is probably dirty. It is a common problem with the Hadley system. You can remove and disassemble it and clean the corrosion out. I did that twice with mine and found that it lasted about 6 months at best.
I finally replaced the solenoid assembly. Cured it for three years so far.

The reply about pulling the horn covers could be your answer. My horns sounded bad and opening them up revealed that mud daubers had made a nest inside and blocked the air flow. I did not find any insects but if any hatched they were probably deaf!

My air tank shows psi. I would think yours does also. Check the air pressure first then check for obstructions in the trumpet.

Thanks for the good advice. I think I'll start with pulling the horn covers. Wouldn't doubt if a mud dauber or a tree frog is in there.

If that doesn't fix it, where might the solenoid be located?
