Newsflash- you can turn off or clear cookies, clear flash cookies (which are not the same as regular cookies), and still be tracked via your browser fingerprint.
Check it out- https://panopticlick.eff.org/
For me-
Quote: Your browser fingerprint appears to be unique among the 1,976,727 tested so far.
So- without the use of any cookies, I can be identified when I surf.

I.E.9 under Windows7 has "InPrivate Browsing" which clears what you are talking about for each site visited. Check und "Tools"

No, it doesn't- there is nothing to clear. Every time your browser sends a request, it sends information which is unique, and has nothing to do with cookies.
This is IE9 running in privacy mode:
Quote: Your browser fingerprint appears to be unique among the 1,978,082 tested so far.
Currently, we estimate that your browser has a fingerprint that conveys at least 20.92 bits of identifying information

OMG, really. I'm not invisible on the Internet?
Seriously, what's your point? It's a giant network, what do you expect? Want to be invisible on the Internet, don't use it.

Apparently, I was able to convince the site that I used two different computers.
Using Safari as my browser, I visited the site, had it "test me" and recorded the bits of identifying information values.
Using Safari's reset option, I had it remove all website data. (Other than cookies, I'm not sure what it removed. It did not remove history.)
I returned to the site and had it "test me" again. Two of the values changed.
Browser Plugin Details changed from 20.92 to 19.92
System Fonts also changed from 20.92 to 19.92

It doesn't bother me- heck, I make money from it, but I doubt any of you have a clue what is known.
What is known is your name, address, income, political leanings, phone numbers (even if unlisted), credit score, friends, hometown, health problem, whether you smoke or drink, if you eat junk food (and on and on and on).
Personally, I find it easier to feed the info I want out there- doing little things to foul the system.

Ever do a search on a medical condition and find that you keep getting ads for a cure? Yes, everything we do on the internet is tracked one way or another. It behooves us to be careful. As many on the social media have found, words can get them into big trouble. It's like the news media without the restraints.
