Having been burned once, we are looking for a reputable home park in Florida or Charleston, SC that can connect us to Coast to Coast, Resorts of Distinction, etc. or any suggestions to get park discounts. Passport America is ok but often has season limitations, only apply for a day etc.

There are literally hundreds of CGs near Charleston NC. One of the nicer ones, Is Happy Holiday in Cherokee. You could just Google the area to find what you need

It is my understanding that we need a "home park" that participates in the programs like Resorts of distinction and Coast to Coast not just an RV park..isn't there a difference? Last time we had to plonk down nearly $6000 for a 5 year program, $12,000 for life partiicpation.

I did, a thorough internet search and it wasn't very encouraging. Several comsumer complaints and unless it has been updated, seems rather worn out. We are looking for top of the line and nearer the gulf but thanks for your thoughtfulness in responding.

If you are just looking for a park to get into those resort systems, there are quite a few. You might look at Hidden Valley in Tijeris, NM. A couple of things you want to watch for, frozen dues, and ability to resign when you choose to. Many membership parks, you pay forever whether you want to or not. If you are looking to spend a lot of time in your home park, go to the Coast to Coast or RPI or Resorts of Distinctions web sites and look for a park in the area you would like to be in. There are also places that resell memberships, and on Escapees web site there is a place to buy or give away memberships. The opinions vary on this topic, and you have to use them to make them pay.
Hope this may help. Happy trails Bert

I choose 2. Vacation Inn in West Palm Beach and River Ranch in the boonies. Best of both worlds.

Willow Tree is in Longs,SC and is not associated with C2C or ROD which the OP was looking for, In fact, most of the recommendation are not and Charleston is also in South Carolina.
