I posted this topic two weeks ago. I am thinking 33%. My neighbor actually own a RV dealership and he tells me that dealers are allotted 40% over invoice from the manufacturer not including incentives. The coach I am in now I got 28.5% off MSRP. And BTW, dont let the dealer talk about trade difference. This is just one trick to confuse you. It is relevant in the purchase, but you can get to those numbers another way.
Would love to hear from someone that just purchased on this post.

Price out a model configured with all your wants and then compare it to one in inventory that would be acceptable. If your experience is similar to mine, the dollars saved on taking one from inventory far outweighs the one or two wants you might not get. Use 30%, +/- 3% as your expected target for something off the lot. 25%, if your real lucky, for something ordered. Good luck!
I wouldn't count on getting a better deal on an in-stock unit. Consider the economics - for a new customer order from the factory, the dealer collects your deposit, forwards it to the manufacturer, and you take delivery. He hasn't incurred any interest, advertizing, or storage costs on that sale. And he has very little risk on the transaction. If the dealer expects to turn his inventory in six months (I have no idea if this is realistic), he has just saved six months of interest on this unit you ordered.
For the in-stock unit, he does have a lot of direct costs baked into the unit.
I suspect that a good dealer can get a premium on an in-stock unit from a buyer who wants something *now*.
The buyer that is willing to wait 10 - 12 weeks and pay the dealer some margin for a no-risk transaction should get the better deal.
Best thing to do would be to shop around and see what's out there.

Thanks to everyone who answered my post. We closed a deal on a 2012 Holiday Rambler Ambassador. We got a 24% discount which was less the the 30% some suggested we should try for. The price was essentially the same as the what the dealer offered at the Tampa RV show, and they had a $5000 RV show incentive from the factory. Our dealer seems to move coaches pretty quickly, and did not have our model available on their lot. We are happy with our deal and are looking forward to getting our new coach in the May timeframe.
Thanks again.

Good fcr you, sounds like you got a great deal. When I was looking back in 2006 I found the discount varies from manufacturer to Manufacturer. Tiffin, Monaco, Fleetwood ect held at 20-25% but Alpha Gold, Damon ect could be bought for up to 30% off. It really comes down the model and popularity of the motorhome, more popular or more expensive models have more room for a disoount.

really.I dont beleive that works on the west coast as there is a large delivery bill
Allegro retails for 406K.That makes the cost 290K plus delivery
of around 5K.based on your 40%.Now take List of 406K less 30% and thats 284K and we never allowed for delivery?

I'd be looking in the area of 27% or so discount. Decide what you want. spec out all the options, and send 3-4 dealers a request of quote. State that you are a serious buyer and are prepared to purchase NOW. Needless to say---only do this if it's the truth! This approach should get you the best price.
