As I sit here pondering my future, I am seriously thinking about selling our motorhome and calling it quits. I just do not see anything improving in the future to allow us to travel as we would like to. When I retired in 2004 I never dreamed that our economy would go down the drain as it has. With fuel prices projected to go through the roof this summer, most of our money will be spent on fuel not leaving much left over for anything else. Some people have suggested work camping, but after a few days I start getting itchy feet. Is anyone else having reservations about future RV travel as I am? Ronnie

And just what do you plan to do when you can't put the house in gear and move? I'm just starting to get ready to full-time and can hardly wait. I figure the money I will save by not having a mortage or property taxes that go for educating all the illegals we have in my area will be money well spent to buy fuel to carry me on down the road.

I definitely have reservations about the future of RV travel. I feel that it will soon be regulated out of existence and that we may be part of a dying industry. We don't have any money issues but like everyone else, our health is the only thing that could limit our travels in the future. Until then, we will continue to travel when and where we want to.

No, but I'm still working so the cost of traveling is not an issue for me. The future for RVing - regulations will probably make the lifestyle very challenging. Wish you the best.

That is the exact same prediction I read last summer. And fuel prices while they did go up eventually came back down to the $3.00 tp $4.00 range that the government wants. Think of it another way. If you quit RVing, what are you going to do. Sit down and die? Personally I much prefer living long enough to be a real burden on obamacare. Or until they deem my health costs too much and drop me in favor of more illegals.

Being fulltimers we do not have a house, only the motorhome. On my retirement I cannot afford both. There are some more equations that are figuring in on my decision also. If I cannot resolve them I probably will not have any choice in the matter. Ronnie

I think the high fuel prices are the biggest drag. I would bet Quartzsite has half the visitors of say 1998. Throw in the collapse of the economy and plummeting home prices and I dont see a big future in fulltiming or snowbirding. You can buy a decent stick built home in Las Vegas or Phoenix for much less than a semi-decent RV. Tucson and lots of other places even in California arent much more. People retiring now have the option of buying a second home for 1/3 the price it was six years ago in some areas.
