The time to think about refueling is at the 1/2 mark.
Service stations on a corner lot usually have the best exits.
If it looks tight, come in wide of the pump to make for an easier turn on the way out.

there isn't an "easiest place" so just look ahead for your path to get OUT after you've fueled, and make sure you don't get trapped or blocked by others.

We have a diesel and normally use the truck pumps. As long as you fuel up and then pull forward before paying, truckers will not be upset. If you use the truck pumps beware of lanes that only offer DEF. Another issue is bio-diesel blends. We have to be careful because our new Dodge uses no mo than 5% bio diesel and many stations exceed that.

The rule of thumb I use is the taller the sign the more room to get in and out. I don't know why but it seams to work.

around here we have stations called "space age" and their lay out is a lot better and will accommodate large trucks with camp trailers or 5'ers. they are more open and they are the ones I hit for fuel. I have to do a search on my lap top for stations when I'm out of town.

Wherever you stop the trick is not getting in to get fuel - the real trick is determining if you can get out before you even pull in - if you can't then move on down the road

This is the best advice yet. I have a diesel pusher with a toad and always use the diesel truck lanes. I don't even use the Flying J dedicated RV lanes since people take forever to fill up, go in the store to shop ect while still parked in the RV lane.

When we had the big rig, we used truck stops and the truck lanes. If that was not feasible, we have been known to find a spot to unhook, go get fuel (while one stays with the fiver) and then hook up and be on our way. Another way is to fuel after stopping for the night, then hook up and leave in the morning.

I try to avoid gas stations that only have one pump per lane although if the gas station is large, it's probably doable.

I can usually tell before I get to a gas station if I can fit. Like M GO BLUE mentioned, I'm more concerned with getting out. Look at the exit to the lane, if it is close to parking spaces will you be able to get out if someone is parked there. Also, if the open lanes are near a curb, you might find someone with a large vehicle parking there making your exit more difficult or impossible.

I scan for easy in and out when I have to refuel. The very first trip I took I made the mistake of pulling into a station that had only one entrance and exit (didn't see the other two were blocked by construction until I pulled in). It was real fun turning around in that parking lot.

Time's sure fun when you're having flies!
