I'm looking for a recommendation for Myrtle Beach campgrounds for this June. My DW would like a place that is on the ocean and has activities for our 11 and 15 year old daughters. Also, any recommendations on what not to miss when we are in the area.

I believe Ocean Lakes is where we spent 4 days years ago after spending 3 days in Smoky Mountains. It was great for our 3 kids with great pool and on the beach.

The State Park will have you on the beach, but unless that is what the kids want to do, you may want to camp there, and then go to the activities in MB for entertainment....lots to do there...

Here is our take. From top choice to bottom last resort.
PirateLand, is our top South Myrtle choice. for it's huge beach area sites, picnic shelters, and quieter more family atmosphere, lazy river, plus better golf cart control, and there is long deserted streatch of beach to the North, with great shells.
Our North Myrtle choice is Myrtle Beach Travel Park. There is just nothing bad to say, Except the beach is not real wide.
Next choice is back to South M. Lakewood, again large sites, and family atmosphere. Not great control of Golf Carts, but much to do.
Ocean Lakes in South M. Next to last resort. Tiny, tiny, sites, Barely room to park the TV. Has nice bath houses, and access from the road is easy. Golf Carts are horrible, security nonexistent.
Last resort. North M. Apache. Cg is dated, bath houses need updating. Sites are not as tiny as OL, but small. It does however have the widest beach of any MB CG. Also has a pier. And like MBTP is close to Restaurant row, and barefoot landing. Also for either. You actually never have to get on 17 to reach the CG.
As for what to do. Too much to mention here. We do like Barefoot Landing, and Alligator Adventure. Rip Aquariam is fun as well.
Myrtle Beach will be crazy crowded in June. I would only visit there in the off season. We were there early last May and stayed at Apache Pier but the attraction was the pier. In the future I think that we would stay at the state park. It also has a pier. We did the coast from Virginia Beach to Hilton Head Island. We fell in love with Hilton Head Island Marina RV Park. (two pools w/spa, tennis courts, marina, condo campsites)
We stayed at Pirateland last June and loved it. We stayed at an inland site because we wanted some shade trees. The inland sites can be very tight but the beach sites are a little bigger and the premium sites a lot bigger... you get what you pay for (little inland site cheaper, beach site more $, premium site more $$$). They have easy beach access, a nice pool area w/ a large pool, a kids pool and a lazy river, an arcade, a snack bar, and mini golf. Lots of golf carts but they didn't really annoy us and from what I understand, these are very prevalent at all fo the myrtle beach CG's. Being that ocean lakes and pirateland are practically right next door to each other, we noticed that every day there were long lines of MH's, 5ers and MH's waiting to get into ocean lakes and almost all of them had a golf cart in tow/bed of pick up etc. Ocean lakes looked really crowded from what we could see. Pirateland wasn't very crowded and we were there the first week of june. It was perfect for us.
As for something to do, the sky wheel ( a giant ferris wheel) in MB is really neat but it isn't cheap. It is on the small thing MB calls a boardwalk and has gorgeous views of myrtle beach and the ocean.
We vote Lakewood. Summer time Oceanlakes golf carts are out of control. Lakewood less golf carts, more options on sites (lake front, shade, no shade, etc). Lakewood is offering all activities free again this year which is nice for kids of the age of yours.
2nd option is OceanLakes but we like Lakewood as it is not often full and you can find space to spread out.
