Or you can do a fulltime type option, which gives you Los Angeles locals everywhere. Including your S&B, which is a no-go for us.

All that said - I've heard that if I use an NY or LA address I can get those locals nationwide as they are not on spotbeam... I really dont care about the "locals" - I want ABC CBS NBC etc so that we can watch certain weekly shows and most times we are out in the boonies and cant get a decent over the air signal. This seems like I could call once when we leave home... set a new service address - and forget about it until we get back home.

Is this true? If someone is doing that could you please expand upon it? Such as do I just pick an address out of thin air or what? Tell me what you do.

Thanks

You are suppose to do a RV waiver for that and have a separate RV account. You have to fax your RV's registration to Dish. And the folks that are often referred to as the RV service team are primarily assigned as the Dish Audit Department. Their primary job is to track down receivers that are not in the proper account locations. what that is called is account stacking and that is illegal. dish will find out. You'll get a call from the Dish nazi's (audit people) who will ask you to read off some numbers off the dish box. Problem is one of the numbers changes all the time so you can't just write it down. Then they suspend that receiver and pretty much you're screwed getting that box back up. If they can't contact you, they will suspend it anyway and wait for your call. They are nice folks provided your doing it right.

Never heard of this!!!!Been with dish for over 10 years and have it with us in the camper for the same time period..

If you read your contract, it should tell you that the leased receiver can not removed from the contract service address. If that is what you are doing, it will catch up with you, especially if you are calling Dish to have them change your service location so you can watch the locals where you are at. But if your not moving out of the spot beam area, you should be okay.

I know about the RV Waiver. That's for a stand alone or pay as you go RV account. It's great for full-timers but not Part timers. Since i have dish at home, the second receiver is the cost effective way.

I own the second reciever.

As I said - I've called dish numerous times and changed the service address without problems. All with the agents knowledge that I was in an RV. Only once in a while did the agent give me a hard time. It's just a pain to have to keep calling to switch service address.

When we are on the road - no one is at home using that set up so we are at least within the spirit, if not the letter of the law. It's all about local stations getting their advertising reach. It is totally legal (per dish) to travel with my second receiver. It's just the service address thing that might be an issue.

Anyway - my original question was not about is it legal or will the Dish Nazis track me or any such nonsense. It was simply to find out if anyone out there is using a NY or LA service address and getting network programming across the country without having to worry about running outside of spot beam coverage?

Anybody actually getting national programming using a NY or LA service address?
