I think one can find a number of the small er V8's in both cars and trucks. I believe the hemi comes in a car, the GM V8's from 4.xL to 6.xL. You could even get a 454 in a camaro in the late 70's to early 80's IIRC!
Yeah cars may have a different tune for lack of better way to put it vs trucks......

A lot of cars had big blocks in the '60's and '70's. My aunt had a '69 Firebird with a 455 in it. She traded it for a Monte Carlo with a 454 because the Firebird was too light in the rear. Remember the Coronet with the 426 Hemi!

And all three of those were slower than most modern small block cars. The G8 GXP was the fastest production car Pontiac ever put out, the Trans Am with the LS1 was the second fastest car Pontiac produced followed close by the last Gen GTO (infact the Trans Am and GTO are a toss up, both have been know to dip into the 12's in stock trim). Even The judge on modern rubber was not as fast as those.
I guess my point is...
Modern Gas engines do a good job. I was towing with an old 89 1 ton big block for years. I purchased a low mile 6.0 4 door 3/4 ton which weighs more than the old big block truck and the 6.0 tow circles around it. Heck I always though my old big block was doing OK too.

you made the point Steve and I were trying to make! The new SB8's are more powerfull than the BB8's of yore! I know my V350 would out pul either the TBI or $ bbl 454's I had!

I just traded in my 2011 Ford diesel for the GM gas engine. My ford had a hpfp failure at 4000 miles. No more diesel emissions******for me. I love the new Silverado. It tows much better than I thought it would.

I thought the same thing. The 2500HD with the 6.0 (I have 3.73's) is a lot more truck that I thought it would be. I keep putting more weight behind it and it keeps pulling it. Mileage is not improving any (seems to top out at low 15's on the interstate) I have 5K on mine now.
