This is goofy! a 6.0 gas motor with what, mid 300 ponies! I remember the day when one could get a 300 6cyl with maybe 105-110HP, 275 lb ft of torque in a dually pickup! I would imagine the 6.0 gas would smoke the 300 CI 6 banger without thinking! Especially with 6 gears in the trans, vs what 3sp autos, 4 sp muncies with a direct drive at best!

For those of you thinking the 6.0 is a small motor, either by power or cubes. Look back a few years, and you will see todays pickumups have more power than one knows what to do with frankly! I would personally buy a 6.0 4.10 prefer a 4.33 as to how I drive with the 6 sp auto over a dmax any day of the week! It would pull my 12k equipment trailer just fine, even with a ton of junk, soil etc in the bed! way faster than the 175/330 non turbo diesel motor in my class 6 dumptruck!

It's all relative, of course. The current 6.0 gas outpulls and outruns any pickup truck engine, gas or diesel, that was available 20 years ago. Not everyone needs or has to have the extra power of a diesel. Some guys gladly will trade less towing power and more noise on hills for a much more reliable engine and a heavier wallet.

Let me know how many 20 year old TV's are out there and your post might have some realvance.
I have a few '20 year old' trucks right here.

One is 20 years old and the other two are 14 and 15 years old but all 3 are from the same generation.

who would want to put up with that when you can get a gasser to scream at 4000RPM and churning out 7MPG.

I'd rather hear a 6.0 "scream" at 4000 than my Dmax and its grade braking at the same RPM.

There is no big block option.

Dodge dropped their V10 years ago.
GM dropped the 8.1L in 2007.
Ford dropped the V10 last year.
Ford still uses the V10 in the F450/550 and F650 cab/chassis trucks, as well as the E350 cab/chassis and stripped chassis trucks.

I think a 6.0 gas 6-speed 3500 dually would do just fine with 4.30 or 4.56 gears.

The Ford 6.2 gas and 6-speed with 4.30 gears is rated only 1500 lbs less towing weight and GCWR than the 6.7 diesel with 3.31 or 3.55 gears in the F250/350SRW trucks. For $8000 less money and no water in fuel, etc problems to worry about, I'd take the 6.2 or V10 with 4.30's any day over the 6.7 diesel with 3.31's.

Sure don't know where all this "power complaint" is coming from on the 6.0L Gasser ... but we sure don't see it's a problem.

My '03 GMC 4x4 Xcab w/3:73 has been hauling us, a 3500 lb camper, and a cargo trailer with two bikes and all the gear (that's about 12,000 lbs) for over 170K miles and we have no problems getting anywhere we want to go. Yes, a little bit slower climbing the mountains, maybe, but so what, it gets us there without heating up and without taking much more time than any bigger block or a diesel ... and stays in good gears with good mph as well as about 10-12 mpg loaded and on the road. Oppps, maybe I just got lucky and bought one built on Wednesday ... Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ...

You've probably noticed that most of the negative comments on this "small" engine are from those who don't own them.

I am still adjusting to the high revving nature of the 6.0, compared to my Dmax trucks but it certainly isn't underpowered. The more I drive it the more I like it.

I had a 2008 Chevy 2500 with the 6.0 and 3.73 gears that I purchased new. Power wise it was OK but gas mileage stunk! I was luck to get 14 mpg on the highway and got as low as 6-7 mpg towing my 10,500 pound TT. Towing the TT on the highway was interesting with how high it would rev going up any type of hill. Also the 6 speed trans would shift out of 6th on the smallest hill and that's empty and not towing anything.

I have towed and hauled things with my 2005 D/A that I would never had tried to do with the 6.0.

Some others may have had different results but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Good Luck and Be Safe

My 6.0 doesn't scream, just sings when it needs to. I dont worry about running 4K in the hills, I still have 2000 RPM till redline. Diesel runs 2200rpm, while it's redline is at 3500rpm, so is it screaming as well??
