Medical care question:
With all the most recent medical care coverage crazies going on I'm interested in the most current info on insurance options.
  • Are there companies that cover full-timers or full-time travelers?
  • Specifically are there companies that don't force you to go to a particular caregiver but will cover medical care wherever you are in the USA and Canada?

Jeet yet? Keep on rollin'!

My eyes aren't that good either I guess because I THOUGHT your title said "my eyes have seen my ears" and I came to find out about this new malady

Most any Blue Cross Policy is nationwide and they have options for both network plans and individual plans (your choice). Managed care or network options usually are less costly but are problems for full timers who move around a lot.

US Govt survey shows three out of four people make up 75% of the total population

Just quoting a line from an old song for the title

Thank you for the info on BC/BS. Sounds like the way to go.

We've been using those temp 6 month plans from ehealthinsurance.com and most are ppo's that have provider lists in each state. We choose the high deductible ones and as long as we go to a provider on the list, it's covered, although mostly goes to deductible but I get the write off required by the ins co. I don't feel forced to go to a certain provider, if I want to pay the whole bill I go to the Dr. I choose.

We have Humana Gold Plus. We can go to Dr. of Choice, Dentist, Opthalmic Dr. of Choice, and RX mail order for $125.00 month. Great coverage, Had Gallbladder out and it only cost me $100.00.

We've had coverage from both Blue Cross/Blue Shield and United Health Care that we've used all over the US.

However, when outside the US, medical care providers probably won't accept your insurance. Instead you may have to pay yourself, and get reimbursed by your insurance company. We've had that experience in Europe and in Canada (although in Canada that's a good thing because cash gets you to the head of the long lines).
