I guess that jury duty thing could be a pain. We have lived in Wyoming for 12 years and haven't been called yet.
They have an old saying, "would you want your case heard by 12 people that weren't smart enough to get out of jury duty?".
All kidding aside, it is a civic duty to put the bad guys away.

Dennis, I hope you'll go into this one a little further. First I've heard of 'spot beams for DirecTV'

We have been South Dakota residents for 6+ years. Alternative Resources
is our mail forwarder and we have been very pleased with their services.
South Dakota is a very"friendly" full-timer state!

We chose FL because we happened to be working there when we bought the first 5er for fulltiming. It's a UPS store because we weren't sure how the working and fulltiming would work. But we're almost to our 7th anniversary and we're down to getting mail forwarded once a month.
Once we semi-retire in 2-3 yrs, we may go to a different mail forwarder and even a different state. But so far, I kept my GA DL and DH has everything else at the forwarding address.
Have worked in VA and I believe they have a part-time residency tax like GA for transitioning out. We always use non-resident because we're only in one place for 4-6 mos.
But if you're doing it to just to avoid taxes, it won't work. If you're snowbirding each winter in FL, it would work.

Vehicle license fees...I understand that SD is raising theirs, but depending on what you are paying now,SD may still be the better deal.
We have used My South Dakota Address for nearly 6 years now and Terri is outstanding.

When checking various states for low tax reasons, be sure and make sure your
Medical Insurance will work too, if you are under 65..
We were all set to go with either Texas or SD, but our Medical Insurance would have put a BIG dent in our expenses.. I was in the State pool and wife was with her company plan which she couldn't transfer..
Another big surprise for us, even thou our state has an Income Tax, it wouldn't have much effect on us either.. AND our state has no Sales Tax..
I know this will not help you with your state, but be sure and look at all the possibilies before making the leap to another state...

Domicile is South Dakota, mail is Escapees in Livingston TX. I don't need a CDL for the truck in SD, no yearly inspections, no income tax, no problem buying black powder for my flint lock, ability to actually talk to my U.S. senators in SD and DC. Our medical ins works anywhere.
The state that we left 13 years ago tried to get me to pay them income tax. The way that I proved that I was domiciled in SD was to get a SD carry permit that is only issued to SD residents. I also made sure that I was counted in the SD census in 2000 and 2010.

South Dakota is a very"friendly" full-timer state! They were more than happy to take my money to register my last coach's title of registration when I was in Sioux Falls, SD getting license plates. Saved a bundle too!
