Just so you have another referance . . . (look at my Sig.)

Not sure what you're referring to really. My old truck had no issues (same as yours), new one is much taller.

Installing the new shackles tonight.

His truck has a 4' lift

How did the lowering shackeles install go ??

wait, what? Installing longer shackles to lift your trailer? Will that work? or are you lowering your shackles on the hangers?

Post Pics Please!

Wrong idea.

He is putting rear drop shackles on his new Duramax to lower the rear a little.

I started to do the shackle replacement in my driveway but chickened out. The upper bolt cannot come out as it hits the frame so it is not as easy a job as I thought. I'm taking it down to my mechanic this morning to see if they can do it. Looks like this weekend will be at the stock ht.

Will you measure the before/after of your unhitched heights? While the shackles might say 2" they are often a bit off.

I just got the same truck and expect to find similar height issues. Reading your results will be helpful.

I'll measure it today when I hook up, that will be with the hitch at max. and the pin box as low as it will go but no lowered shackles, they will go on next week and I'll measure before/after with/without trailer.

I have almost 6" at the back corner of the bed. Front sits a bit higher than the rear. I hope to get to the scales soon to see how much difference I have in axle weight. Depending on the results the OP has with his lowering shackles, I may try that.

edit:
ground to rear wheel 42.5" unhitched and 40.25" hitched on the driver side (.25" higher on the passenger side)
5er frame to ground front 24.25" and rear 21.25"

All is well!

Bed clearance is now 6.5-7" not as much as I'd like but acceptable, besides there's no way to get more, hitch is at max, pinbox at max. Trailer sits 1" higher in the front than the rear. It tows like a dream, I'm not touching a thing. If the '05 was a 9 as a tow vehicle, this one's a 15!

If I install the lowering shackels the rear will be way too low when connected, the trailer drops it 2-3" so it's just about level now. If I put more bikes, etc. in with weight over the axles more It might settle just a bit more. Overall it's perfectly fine the way it is.

Stock the rear wheel well clearance is 11" so it squats close to 3".

It all can be pretty frustrating for sure Nayther. My Dodge set real high too, and I hit the underside once and did some damage to both truck and trailer. Not a good day.
The change to the Ford did give me another few inch’s but the truck squats in the rear helping give the extra room. I was a little concerned about it tell I drove it and it did fine so I’m good with it as long as the trailers very close to level. I’m just worried how it will do during heavy braking lifting the front end.
Good luck with the new setup.
