I'd liked to find a small charcoal or Propane BBQ that we can store in our 5r? I've been looking around but cant seem to find anything? I want something small but not too small like those little grills you can only put one steak at a time on....Just wondering what other peeps are using?

Thanks

I've seen similar questions posted and there are several quality choices. We use a Coleman Propane "All In One" cooking system we got at WalMart for around $140.00 and like it a lot - held up well first season with a lot of use. It has three different cook surfaces and covered stock pot/warmer, is easy to store in the zippered canvas bag that comes with it.

This may be bigger than you want but the Weber Q100 is the best grill that I have ever owned and fits easily into the basement of our rig.

Saw this one at Dicks and thought it was really cool. It's propane infared and has a pan below the grill for wood chips so you can still smoke. I just wish it had a larger lid. I like to do chickens or a Pork roast and that lid would close on top of them.

A lot of people on this forum, including us, are using this one. It cooks great and is small enough to be easily stored. Weber Q100

I see the Weber Q100's everywhere. The price seems to be reasonable (usually under $149). We have had ours for 4 years. I find that if the grill gets a little too dirty to clean with a brush I just leave the heat on low for about 20 minutes and it burns everything off, kind of like a self cleaning oven. After preheating on high, we do all of our actual cooking on the lowest setting. They hold the heat in great.

I had the Cuisinart Cart BBQ/Grillclicky thingywhich i thought was an exellent grill built extremely well for the money but in the end i opted for the Master Forge Gas Grill other clicky thingywhich i think is the best grill i've ever had, because it's square and not rectangular it seems to have more grilling space also the real big downside to portables is that the lids are all too low so there's not much interior hight inside the grill for doing "Frau Blücher's beer-butt chicken" I know your looking for portability but i found with that it ment too many limitations and we use our grill every day right down to cooking breakfast on it using a griddle,we found that using the BBQ reduces heat inside our rig as well as cooking grease residue and exessive moisture. Carrying it was simply solved by building a tray mounted on the rear of my fiver which also held my generator and mountan bikes along with my grill (I'm building a swivel wheel trailer this spring to carry the genny, grill, bikes and golf cart) the one thing i found about RV'ing is that everything is a compromise to some extent, you just gotta' find the occasional loop-hole to get what you need!!

+1 for the Weber Q...

I purchased ours based on the many positive testimonials... The first time I fired it up...we did burgers --- and I followed someones recommendation of lighting it and setting it on HIGH...putting the burgers on...when it's time to flip...set the flame to LOW...and finish that side /by then the grill is up to full temp... They came out fantastic. We've done Burgers, Steaks, Chicken Breasts, Bacon Wrapped BBQ Shrimp kabobs, Corn, Zuchini, Portabello Mushrooms...even used to put a griddle on it for frying bacon and cooking pancakes -- but now we use a Presto Electric Griddle for that most of the time.

We bought the hose to connect it to a 20lb container if we want to...and the cart (for those campsites that prohibit placing grills on the picnic table --- probably because someone burned up a picnic table somehow)

It cooks very evenly over the entire surface...so you don't have to figure out the oddities of your grill to prevent burning some food while other areas don't get cooked.

I use Spray PAM grilling spray before putting the food down on the grill...and when I'm done...I use a water spritzer to spray a little fresh water on the grill to steam clean any food remnants...and do a light once over with a grill brush. Done...

Weber Q is a good GRILL but it's not a BBQ.

Weber Smokey Joe Charcoal BBQ......14 1/2" grill surface.
Compact, easy to store. Been using one FT for almost 5 yrs.
Fill it up with charcoal.....use it....close vents/put lid on.....repeat. At end of week I leave bottom vent open/lid off and let remaining charcoal burn up. Next morning dump ashes in garbage. Close vents/put lid on....two bungee cords across lid to legs....back into side compartment.

Grill surface will easily hold 4 large Porterhouse steaks, 6 large chicken breasts, 6 1/3# hamburger patties etc.
And with a few soaked wood chips/lid on/vents open you can get that smoked flavor.

I agree with Old Biscuit. If your going to cook with gas you might
as well stay in the house. I also have a smokey joe .I would
also recommend using natural lump charcoal. Less ash than
briquets and all natural.
