Captcurt303, Sunlover99, marspec, glderguy, Whistler66 here on this forum all have new Redwood RV's! PM them for input...

People next to us have a Redwood. They seem to have a lot of problems, aren't sure what as he works from 6-6 7 days a week. Repair truck has been there 4 times in 3 weeks sometimes for hours. We are in upstate NY (cold & snow), they are from TX. That may have something to do with it. If I see the repair guy I'll ask.

After looking for just the right 5er for over 4 years, my wife and I went to a show yesterday 6.5 hours from our house and ordered a Redwood RL with full body paint and a slide in a slide in the bedroom. We're slowly getting ready for our retirment and from all of the research I could find we thought this to be the best unit under our circumstances. We did load it up with option to better fit our needs;

#1 heat pumps on both a/c
#2 disk brakes
#3 "G" rated tires
#4 full body paint
#5 Slide in slide
#6 #40lb LP tanks
#7 5.5 GAS onan (not LP)
#8 Dual pane windows

We really like the quality of this unit and the weight because I really didn't want a dually (I have a 2011 f350 4x4 diesel srw). I had narrowed my search to 4 units, New Horizons, Carrage, Hitch hiker and the Redwood. New Horizon's is by far the best made but they're too heavey for what I wanted. Carriage bit the dust but a year ago I almost bought one until a really looked it over. I saw some quality issues in a Cari Lite I was looking at. Hitch Hiker is a great unit but I wasn't impressed. They wanted me to mold around their trailer. The Redwood was a hard decision because they're new but everything I looked at was right and they seemed to listen to rv'ers needs.

Only time will tell if we were right.

I'm trying to figure out the difference between the Redwood and new Blackwood. I know they have Shaker cabinets, which look really nice.

The Blackwood is just a less fancy version of the Redwood. It will still be a well built unit like the Redwood but will not be a true 4 seasons unit. It is on a 10" frame compared to the Redwood 12". I was told the production will be about 10 to 14 a day on the Blackwood and about 4 a day on the Redwood. The Blackwood should come in about $8k to $10k less than a Redwood depending on how it is optioned.

The Redwood has "Falcon" componets. I guess they came up barnd new name for the old LCI (Lippert) stuff. I would assume it cost some $$ to delvelope this marketing thing.

Yep, actually drove to all of these places---in the last eight years. Missed Rhode Island and New Jersey.

I do not believe there would be a 5 yr structural warranty on the "old Lippert stuff". People have asked for an option for beefed up Lippert components and I believe that is what they are offering, time will tell.

We have been full timing in a Redwood 37FL for a month now and have had no issues.

The only thing we discovered was that the mattress pad we put on the bed needs to be pulled back. The drawers of the armoire recess to accommodate the mattress and the added thickness was preventing the top of the slide out from sealing tightly.

WOW! I can hardly wait to get mine in about 6 weeks. Thanks for sending the pic because now I know what it's going to look like behind my black F350.
