Newbie here with Honda 2000 generator. I am even hoping I can get it started with the rope pull but once that is accomplised how do you charge the battery with it? Are there clamps that hook to the battery or just by having the rig plugged into it, will charge the battery? I bought it and realized I mostly camp in campgrounds with electric, so not even sure I needed it but was a good deal(brand new) so bought it. I have a chainsaw that I cannot start with the rope, others can but I cannot, need lessons I guess but..... worried I should have bought a generator with electric start. We shall see.

you should have started your own thread, instead of piggybacking on one talking about a cheap 800w generator.

plug the rig's shore cord, with a 30/15amp adapter, into one of the Honda's outlet. don't use the worthless 12v cables, it'll take forever to recharge the battery.
i can only speculate if your rig has a good 3-stage converter/charger.
if it does, it'll recharge the battery fine unless the battery is bad. you might want to post the model and brand of your converter. should be something from its manufacturer with your owner's manual.

if it's a new one, it should start easily, just like a lawnmower with a Honda motor.

from lawn mowers to little generators i use a one or two second spray in the intake and starts em right up after siting all winter.
saves your arm for drinking beer lol
and saves your electric starter to.

my little hf starts right up with the old fuel after sitting all winter. i havent used since september 2011 but in a week i will be getting that ready for the beach . it will start pronto!

Are you asking how to charge the battery on an electric start generator or how to charge your RV's battery using the generator?

To charge the battery on an electric start generator a SMALL smart charger or battery minder woudl be my suggestion (10 amps or less) or run the generator and let it do the job.

To charge the batteries in the RV, there are two answers depending on the converter in the RV.

If you have an old single stage converter.. UPGRADE IT.

If you have a modern 3-stage (or after upgrade) plug RV into generator and let the converter.... convert.

The 12 volt connections on the generator are ok for say a 12 volt trouble light, but not much good for anything else.

Good price. Locally today they were $115 but were $100 two weeks ago.

Did pick up the 500 pound receiver hitch luggage carrier that was otherwise on sale in stores for $95 by using the 25% off coupon good for today.
