Been around Gaspe twice, once in each direction. I preferred when we did it counterclockwise as that puts the water views on your side of the road.
Campbellton NB is just across the bridge from Quebec. We stay at Sugarloaf Provincial Park there and even though it is electric only it is close to good shopping to stock up before you go around Gaspe, (Walmart, Cdn. Tire, Loblaws/Atlantic Superstore, etc). You might want to fuel up in that area before you head out as well, it's a little less expensive than on Gaspe on both sides of the river there.

Forillon N.P. is a great place to visit but check the prices before making your decision. If you belong to Passpsort America, there is a member park not far from the National Park. We opted to stay there and only pay the daily rate to go into Forillon for a hike. Camping in N.P.'s has become very expensive in my opinion.

I would suggest driving counter-clock-wise around the peninsula, since most of the attractions are on the water side & access is easier. I went the other way & realized it too late. Either way it's a great choice for you, but don't rush because there's a lot to see & enjoy.
I hope you have a great trip. Good luck.
