I am curious about the fact that Remco site says my 2012 Civic is: "Towable as is, look under emergency towing." My manual states emphatically, in two places that the car is not towable. In fact, Honda has even eliminated any explanation of the old gear shift moving that was required to tow. They now say, even in emergency, either the front wheels need to be off the ground, or it has to be on a flat bed.

DO NOT USE THE BRAKE BUDDY WITH A TOW DOLLY.. Get a dolly with surge brakes or electric brakes built in.
Second.. Many cars can be towed 4-down, even though the factory says not to, by making a few simple modifications.. Those mods fall into one of the following tpes.
1: Lube pump, this is an electric pump that keeps transmission fluid flowing
2: Drive shaft disconnect: On RWD cars this divorces the wheels from the tranny, No power to the wheels, no back feed to the tranny, it makes your car a trailer in every sense of the word (wheels turn free)
3: Axle lock, Same as 2 but for front wheel drives.
I prefer 2 or 3 to 1.
With these devices (2 and 3), your car, is a no-power to the wheels trailer when you tow, the transmission (And thus the odometer) never turn.. You put the transmission in PARK to tow believe it or not.
With the Lube Pump you tow in neutral, and you may need to pull a fuse to kill the odometer.
With all, depending on the ignition switch you may need to pull a fuse and leave key in ON position to tow. (Many cars have a acc/lock/off/on/start type ignitions, on those you tow in OFF, but some do not have the off position in which case you have to tow with key on to unlock the steering) These push button jobs... I don't know much about. (like my daughters where she gets in and pushes a button to start)
