We will be full timing it with the grandkids there is a rv park near their homes so the motorhome will be our home near the grandkids. Good luck and enjoy them.

This is the way to do it. All of our Gkids are within 20 mins of each other, so the RV Park is a great place to stay.

I don't ever want another house with upkeep and lawns to mow. And I definitely don't like apt or condo living.

Our full time stint ended last year after 9 years of living on the road. We bought a house just 85 miles from our summer place and last summer, we moved most of our stuff in. Still spending 8-9 months a year in the RV, but do have a home base now. The house has a RV pad on the side with FHU's, so it is our 4th bedroom now.

Just goes to dhow that it doesn't have to be one-or-the-other (FT or stick & brick) can have both over the course of a lifetime. Life is a marathon, not a sprint.

Enjoy your new home!

Our 9 years on the road taught us that life can be lived anywhere! We found the perfect place to land after a wonderful ride Wouldn't trade those years for anything!

The worst mistake I ever made was letting the wife have her way over 5 years ago when she bought this stick house... I should have had my brain scanned for
stupidly letting that lifesytle go so easy without a really good fight but a man doesn't stand a chance when a woman makes up her mind..

Divorce was outa the question, but it did raise it's ugly head a time or two but after 45 years of living with this one, I just didn't have the time left in this ole world to find another one that would put up with me....

The idea of snowbirding did NOT work for me either.... We gave it a try but just wasn't the same lifestyle we enjoyed after our fulltime adventure...
I do know it does work for some...

I now know for a fact why the female outlives the man, they drive us crazy with the gotta have a stick house nesting site...

I did put my foot down and let her know this was the last house we were gonna buy so hope she enjoys it... BUT, I did mention, several times, I would be willing to sell this house and go on the road again....... She let me know if I kept this up, she would make an appointment for me, to see a head shrink....

O'well, as long as I have a couple sane brain cells left, I'm gonna keep buggin her and a few on this board too...
Especially that guy down in Texas that seems to really love his new stick built house he built several years ago....
And as far as Dianne's wonderful new house goes, well, she is a female after all, so her vote dosen't count in my book cus I know that in the back of her brain, she knows she made a mistake, and would rather be on the road again...

Phil....of course I would, but the road will always be there, if and when we decide to do it again. Right now, we are enjoying our life here in snow country

Yes, it is. Just not all at the same time.

I can assure you, if either my wife or myself had been forced to go kicking and screaming back to a brick house it would NOT have happened (not for both of us). The fact is that BOTH of us, after sampling the fulltiming lifestyle, agreed that there were way too many features about living in a brick house that we preferred over living in a tiny house on wheels. Motorhomes were basically designed for mobility (take your little house with you), and it works GREAT for that. But, for us, spending one week in the motorhome is close to the limit of what we want to do with it. Consequently, it sits in the backyard most of the time. We're more the city dweller type, but we're happy to have experienced more than one lifestyle. We love RVing (short term). We have hobbies which are better served from a homebase with ample space, much more than what was available to us when fulltiming. We're grateful that we had a choice.
But, we have friends who are still fulltiming. Living the lifestyle that suits you, that's what's important.

Willie, I think you spent more time deciding just what you wanted in your fulltime RV then you spent living the fulltime lifestyle... AT least, it seems so back then.. You did spend a lot of time telling us about it anyway..

I really wasn't forced to quit the fulltime lifestyle, I did honor an agreement that we made before we started our fulltime adventure.. Boy, wish I had better foresight back then..

I cannot fathom the reason why anyone would want to be tied down to a stick house when there is so much adventure left and so little time..

As far as ample space goes, all we had to do was open the door and we had all the space we wanted, and if we got tired of that space, we just packed up and found another space to fullfill our dream, for awhile anyway, before moving again..
I don't think you really rapped your head around the true fulltime lifestyle and just the freedom feeling it gives to some of us...

I do agree thou, you are really more of the city dweller type as you put it and glad you are happy with that lifestyle..

I am sorry that we never made it down your way when you finished your house to visit.. We quit our RVing days way to early to get back to Texas.. I must say, I did like the hills around SA, but don't really like large cities..

I can't really explain it any better than that.. the fulltime lifestyle bug can bite hard and like a pitbull, doesn't let go...

I got the bug early. My parents bought a 1951 36' Spartan trailer and outfitted a 1951 Nash ambassador to tow it. Unfortunately they never did. DW and I wanted to try it from the day we were married in 1966, as soon as I retired in 1999 we hit the road. Only regret we never made it to Alaska something always came up ,couldn't drive to Hawaii. We met a lot of people and saw a lot of things. We thought nothing of driving 500 to 1000 miles to meet up with friends. We will still visit or they can park in our driveway. Our kids are pleased that we are "settled down", and they don't have to worry about the old folks.
The real reason is grandchildren, we waited a long time.
So now we have a house; I have to sell the truck because the state wants me to get a CDL. The local fire department wants me to be a driver for a 15 ton fire truck no CDL required, go figure.
