Congrats on the truck!

I picked up my 2008 Chevy 2500HD 6.0, 3.73 CCSB Z71 on 1/1/2012. I'm in Alaska, but so far with mountain driving @ highway speeds and winter start ups / idling I'm seeing 13.5mpg. I expected this, my 6.4 Diesel I traded in was seeing about the same. I don't think you will have any regrets, one upgrade I reaaallly want is a Titan Tank to swap out the OEM tank. Excellent truck otherwise!

Not positive, but I don't think you can get a larger tank for the gas trucks? EPA issues?

Thankfully, with the new frame, the 11 and 12s have the 36 gallon tank on the CCSB.

ditch the half ton tundra. it may have this so called high tow capacity, but it is still a half ton truck period. The gmc or chevy 2500 will be a better deal.
ooops.. sent this before reading last post.. good decision on your part.

I have the same truck 2500 with 4:10's and I get 11 or 12 in the city and 6.5 when I tow 70. 8 miles to the gallon when i drive 55. TT is 8,000 lbs and it pulls it great.

Question is what are you buying it for, daily driver or tow vehicle.

as an owner of a 2010 2500HD gasser 4.10 diff I am currently getting 10.5 mpg around town no better than 14 mpg highway average 65 mph (non towing). Towing my 7400 lb loaded tt does a great job no complaints except needing a fuel tanker in my back yard!!!!!
I average around 8.5-9.5 mpg towing @ 60-65 mph.
Oh yeah, I put the rig on a Cat scale and got a total of 14,300 lbs.

Wow that is a long tag trailer. Do cross winds push you around a lot?

not really...my long wheelbase keeps it in check I think.Bumper to bumper I'm around 55' long
