I want to have my own mp3 file show up in the list of selectable ringtones on my Mot Droid Razr. Problem is, I cannot seem to find where to put the file.
Some forums talk about an sd/card/media folder, or notifications folder, or ringtone folder, but I find nothing like that on my phone. I've searched the phone looking for anything which might be a folder of ringtones, but no luck. I really don't want to download a custom program on my PC just to accomplish this. It seems like it should be as easy as I've described. I thought maybe the Verizon site might have some way to do this, but no.
Any help?

In my Motorola Atrix, the ringtones are in the Internal phone storage/media/audio/ringtones folder.
Hope this helps!

On my Motorola Bionic........I took my SD card out of my phone and put that into a card reader on my computer....then I saved the ringtones into a file on the SD card named "Ringtones".......then on the phone I transfered the mp3 file from the sd card onto the phones internal storage........

Plug phone in to the USB port. Phone will ask if you want to enable SD card storage mode. Select yes. SD card will now appear as a disk on your computer. Copy your ringtone to the music or ringtones folder.

I got it. Put them in music/ringtones, which I created.
They were named 'Zzz' and i expected to find them at the bottom of the list. They were in the middle.
Thanks all!

I have a Galaxy Nexus, not a RAZR, but I have found that when I place files, etc. into the memory via Explorer from the computer I had no app called "Files" as I had on my Droid X. I went into the Market and found an app called "ES File Explorer". With this app I have been better able to access files I have placed into my memory from my computer.
I can now access EXCEL files, free book files for Overdrive and note files that I had no other way to find. I just got the Nexus so I'm still learning but I can't understand why it didn't come with a "Files" app. Maybe they had a reason but I don't know what I'm suppose to do with 32 gigs of memory without the flexibility of being able to freely access files.
I know this doesn't directly answer your question and I don't know how the apps on the RAZR resemble those on the Nexus. Hope this helps.

App recommendation: Look here. Create your own ringtone, alarm, or notification sound from an existing audio file, or record a new one directly on the device.

You can also download or create ringtones on phonezoo.com. After you create it they send it to you attached to a text.
It's fun to just listen to some of the available ringtones.

What I'm really after is my own voice saying "you have a new email" or "Hey, you may not wanna answer this call"
I downloaded an Mp3 file creator which does that on my computer, then upload to phone. Heck, maybe the phone does that all by itself.
