My pick between the 2 you spoke of would be the Elkridge JMO

I went to a local dealer and they sell forest river among other TT's. I ask the mechanics about some of the TT's sold on the lot and they told me what problems they have with the units when serviced. one thing that stood out in my mind was the one guy who was working on a forest river 5th wheel and he said he almost put his arm through the wall of the bath room. he said they used a thin sheet of veneer to make the wall and stapled it on on end to one wall and using no other support wrapped it around to make a wall and stapled it to the door frame. very flimsy he said. and he went on to tell me some other shoddy workmanship they had to fix. He told me to stay away from forest river. Now to let you know, my trade in is a forest river and it is a fine TT once I got all the bugs worked out of it. my biggest grip was they put three different sized tires on it when I got it. I was blowing tires in the drive way. I would say what ever you buy go over it with a fine toothed comb and remember this, building a TT or a 5er or a MH is not rocket science, so there will be shortfalls in all of them.
What brand of Forest River are they selling Wildwood,Wildcat,V-Cross,Salem? Forest River makes a lot of campers from low ends to high ends

heartland bought fleetwood or something like that but I have friend that bought a high end fleetwood 5er in 04 it stayed in the shop until warranty ran out. It was a pos then and is a pos now. they were treated so poorly that it will stop me from buying a heartland or previous fleetwood of any kind. JMO.

What I can remember is the Eldridge had the larger tires and axles then the Sierra. So you might want to check that also.

Heartland bought the names and intellectual properties of Fleetwood, I.e., Prowler, wilderness, etc....the new Prowler, now being built is definitely NOT the Prowler built by Fleetwood...

Before buying i asked a bunch of fiver' owners around a campfire about wich make to buy and Forest River/Cedar Creek got nothing but praise. I now own a Daydreamer and we love it,it's built like a tank and i think it's a terrific looking fiver',we always get compliments on it and i have had grate service after the sale from Forest River and our next rig will be a Cedar Creek.

We were looking at HitchHikers when we saw our first Heartland Big Horn. We ended up buying the Big Horn. We love it, and spend 6 months in it a year, and we're not full timers.... Yet.

You will get a lot of different responses from this forum, good and bad. That being said, another thing to consider is the location of the dealer. If you have any warranty issues or any small issues covered by the manufacturer or the dealer, distance and convience does make a difference. Good luck and enjoy your new 5er.
