Still no pics? Don't they have digital cameras in S.Carolina? My whole life has come to a screeching halt waiting for the pics....

The time or two I have been involved in an accident, I always notify my insurance company so things can get started. They (the insurance companies) will hash it out amongst themselves in the end! Good luck!

What hasn'e been mentioned is that you should have filed your own police report so that you have a copy from your perspective. It may be too late to do it now, but that's what I've done in the past and I use this to report to my ins co. If you go to the PD they should be able to give you a copy. Whatever you do, you need to contact your ins co and get the ball rolling.

One thing nobody has asked - If it's just your bumper that's damaged, how much more (if any) than $1000 will the repairs cost?

Now, if ultimately it is deemed her fault, then her insurance company should reimburse your deductible. If you proceed this way, however, you will indeed need to let your insurance company handle it. Much easier for them to handle the subrogation than you.

I think Florida is a "No Fault" state, so in the long run you may be going through your own insurance regardless.

No fault only deals with bodily injury, not property damage. You don't have to go through your insurance for a property damage claim, let your insurance company handle it. The claim will show up on your CLUE report in any case.
