We will be heading out on the first of many extended trips in April in our Damon, Astoria 38'with a 5000lb hitch.
I would appreciate any suggestions in respect to the best support vehicle to tow behind the unit.

We tow a 2007 Ford Edge with no difficulty whatsoever. Good luck with you choice.

The AWD Honda CR-V is one of the most popular available. Light, dependable, excellent utility, good ground clearance & mileage, etc, etc, etc.....

Jeeps make good towed vehicles. They are light weight and easy to set up for towing. With the Wrangler and Cherokee you can use inexpensive fixed tow bars and mounts. Most you only need to put the transfer case in neutral and the transmission in park. With the 5 speed put the transfer case in neutral and transmission in 2nd gear. The full time 4WD models are not towable.

98 Honda Accord, which is also my daily drive. Under 4K in weight, 30 MPG, and the biggest bonas - it's paid off, a long time ago.

In general, the lighter the toad THAT MEETS YOUR NEEDS, the better.
Not sure that "what I chose is best" will do you a lot of good. We don't know your needs in a towed vehicle.

Now towing a 2012 Honda Fit, automatic - previous tow was 2004 PT Cruiser - 5 sp. Both are small, lightweight - but suprisingly roomy.

We tow a 2008 gmc 1500 4x4 and we love it. no matter what the road conditions we are ready.
