WOW! I didn't see where anyone accused "Granny from Iowa. He has noticed a trend over 12 years and posted a warning. It didn't seem to me to be a personal attack.

That is great until they figure out what happened then come back and burn your house down to get even. Not good to mess with Karma.

That depends on How Lazy they are . As they would more then likely have to walk back , and with any luck , someone just might catch them in the act .

I guess what you are saying is all us Northerners have "Sticky fingers". Before you blame the visitors, look in your own backyard. It could be kids in your neighborhood trying to make a couple free dollars. Get your local law enforcement involved.

Ditto x2.
Wow, The OP feels the need to post about a personal theft AND then blame snowbirds for the crime rate in your OWN town

X3, as a snowbird I'm just shaking my head right now at this.

Yep, keep an eye on Granny from Iowa, she has a long arrest record.

If you're going to blame the RV'ing group, then the most likely will be someone (or some family) that has lost everything in this economy and now is forced to live in a RV in a low rent RV area (i.e. Rockport.) They might be looking for work with no success an are forced into doing things to get by. I doubt it's the AARP person who just lost big ($10) at bingo.

I assume you've never been to Rockport in Jan/Feb, or have seen the standard look/age of a Winter Texan? Read the OP all of that info came from there.

Has nothing to do with economy... Poor excuse made for a thief. A thief wants something for nothing in good economic times as well as bad.

Wrong. In tougher economic times, crime rates increase. Some who wouldn't think of turning to theft find themselves in situations that they believe they have no choice but to turn to crime to resolve.

I live in Ohio.

Last Tuesday, we came back from an appointment and I noticed the rr door hanging open on my Dodge Travco. Sent my son to investigate, as I am still walking with a cane, and my Honda 5000 generator was gone from its spot.

Gotta love people. Not.

Yeah...things have worsened, I think.

Been in south Texas for five years, never a problem. This year, we bought a new 2011 Chevy truck in March before we left. Keep a car here for when we get back, so we don't drive the truck much...sometime in the last two weeks used the truck maybe three times...someone removed both fog lamps and we just noticed the other day...community is gated, so sure it happened outside the gates! Bummer...

It seems that where and whenever you have an influx of people your bound to have an increase in crime. The guilty seem to follow these gatherings and pray on them. Yes, I do believe the economy has had a lot to do with the increase in crime. Locks are only for honest people...if someone wants it they will get it. It is a sad and maddening situation though.

If they are 'honest' then wouldn't need any locks.

Locks are because of THIEVES.
