This evening while reading, my Doberman was pestering me to play w/her. She brought her squeaky ball dropped it at my feet. I ignored her. She went on a rampage running back and forth from my living room down the hallway with the ball in her mouth. Every time she ran past me she would drop the ball then jump on it and again run back and forth. It was so funny that I could not hold back my laughing, this makes her more playful. It was just like when my kids were young and they did something so funny, but you knew if you laughed, they'd continue.
To my surprise the last time past me she jumped up on my lap, all 84 pounds worth. then looks at me as if to say "gotcha"!
I don't know what I'd do without her.

Just thought I'd share this with other's. Bill

I agree. Got some serious things going on (Don't we all)...I've gotten hugs and plenty of 'em from my humans but haven't had a good belly laugh in weeks...until yesterday.

We took in this rescue last summer and now he's "ours". Yesterday I was cleaning the shower and I opened the door under the bathroom sink to get the cleansers. Yeah, the cat dove for the cubby hole. That was expected. But what it did next was a hoot. He stood up and put his claws on the top of the cabinet door, lifted his feet and the door swung shut with this cat hanging on the inside of the door. The look on that cats face was priceless as he swung out of sight. I grabbed the door. He didn't get his paws pinched.

Just an odd little thing but it was enough to get me to really laugh. Felt good.

There are several good reasons that you should never "ignore" your dog!

The "International League of Depressed Dogs" founder Dr. Raymond F. Poindexter says that ignoring your dog is likely to cause the dog to exhibit bad behavior such as 'barking a lot, running around with "bad dogs" causing problems, increased drug and alcohol consumption, urinating in your coffee and an increase in charges on your credit card.'

Other scientific dog experts however believe that a dogs brain is not complex enough to be subject to depression or loneliness, saying that a dogs brain only has 5 different thought processing centers...unlike a human who has thousands of higher thought synapsis nerves.

Actual diagram of a Dog brain centers...

It is not a good thing to ignore your dog! When a greyhound does the running back and forth bit, we call it the "Zoomies". There is nothing quite as funny as a 30 inch tall greyhound doing "Snow Zoomies"

Hi,

I agree that she seems to have to much energy, and not enough time outside in the woods to run around. Try a Sacco dog cart, they give them plenty of exercise, and you will enjoy the ride!

My 65 pound German Shorthair was a lap dog too! Just not permitted to jump on anything, only I could pick her up if I wanted her in my lap. She pulled my Sacco dog cart at 15 MPH with me in it, and would go 20 when she saw a cat! It was great exercise for her! She was always in great shape.

The classy girl in your signature would NEVER behave in such an undignified way! (lol)
By the way, her natural ears make her even more beautiful.

I say that because last night, Gretchen was doing the exact same thing with her favorite Porcupine ball".

""Dad gets quiet time too"" Really My Dobie get's pleanty of exercise time. I have a fenced yard and she is out more than in doors I think! She waits for a furry critter to come in so she can chase it back out! She loves the snow and when I shovel the snow off my deck, she jumps into the snow attempting to grab a mouth full when I toss it. I have a large ball with a ring handle, its made especially for horses. When I throw it she'll jump in the air to catch it and actually uses her front legs to attemp the catch. She is what you might say is Daddy's girl!!
