Seen your post: first time 5er also. Started out small, as in a two man tent, four man tent, 13 ft. trailer, 15 tl. 19ft. tr. So been at this for some time, 35 yrs. Ours if a 29ft by Monaco,it is making a comback afer the pit fall of the business. Its 3 slides, kitchen, bedroom, and living/dinning area. Purchased pu firt, then the fifth wheel. Wife and I love it, her idea on wts, frame material, floor plan etc. I was the GMC. Put our heads together and we both are pleased what we have.Taked to dealer 3x told him like it but, but need to take the 4 wheels, boat, for towing. No problems, he set us with hitch to back of frame, thru in a wave heater, connection and all, new wheels, sure we paid for it but, all done by them. No problems towing as wts wise, figure the wts of all tanks, even propane, and clothes. No leaks over slides even after installing carefree slide covers. Look at the specks of the unit if you can. Compare, it will help you make the right move.

2005 gmc 3/4 hd, sb, 4x4, 8.1 gas/allison 17,000 and climbing.
2005 Lakota, by Monaco, 3 slds, 29f.

I had wanted an Alpenlite since the first one I looked at. 13 years later 2008 I went to the Western RV bankruptcy sale in Yakama WA. Bought a new 2008 Alpenlite Limited 34RLR Bellagio. Yes it is an orphan but When made as well as the Alpenlite is that was not a concern or has it been a problem what so ever. I have a simular pickup (see sig) and have no issues pulling it. If everything looks alright and is in working condition I don't see how you can get hurt.

I dont rent out space in my brain

Test many and then choose a few before making one purchase. There are many models and brands out there to choose from. Ask for a warranty. Watch out for quality appliance.

There is one park model rv trailer that is made out of a shipping container if you want to see how it is different from the others in the market for comparison purposes here: http://www.kottagerv.com

Take your time to shop around. There is always a good deal if you search for it.

Kinda hard to get a warrenty on a private party sale also I don't believe a dealer is going to give a warrenty on a older $5k unit. As far as appliances top end manufactures didn't have a habit of using enrty level appliances.

Thank you all for your quick replys. I think we are going to get it. I have looked at tons of 5er's and I have to say I really like the way this one looks and the layout of it. I'm a little concerened about the size since it is smaller than what we wanted. We have a family of 5 but our 3 children are small. Ages are 8, 6, and 2 so with them being smaller I think this will be a good one to start with. I just feel for the price and the shape its in it is really hard to pass up. Do you all know if its hard to add a generator to these? This one doesnt have one but there may be some places we go to that we may need one. Just a thought.. Thank you all again.

I would just get a portibal. We use a Boliy 3600 SI/E inverter generator. Lightest, quitest, most fuel efficiant, and best signe wave (cleanest Current) unit that I have found.

Larry thank you. I didn't really think of that and I'm sure it's going to need tires I mean don't most used ones need tires. Lol. Any thought on good tires I don't mind spending a little extra now if it will save money later.

I would suggest you get a couple of 2,000 watt generators, Honda or Yahama, with the cord that ties them together to give you about 4,000 watts of power. When separated, a person can easily pick them up individually and place in the truck or other carrier.
