Hi going camping at Flamingo in the Everglades in two weeks.Just bought
a 45SC Minn Kota for our canoe. Would like to keep the battery charged
with the car charger when driving, has anybody hooked up two 12volt batteries in parallel and would the trailer charger be able to do the job if the trailer is hooked to 120AC?

Thanks for any info

Many trucks have two 12 volt batteries (almost all diesels) and many RVs have two or MORE connected and charged by their converter/chargers. I have two 6 volt golf Cart batteries wired parallel and it handles even them just fine.

I often use a set of jumper cables to attach the battery for my electric motor to the other batteries on the trailer. The solar keeps all of them topped up. If it's raining, the generator can top them up.

I think Skip does mean "wired parallel".
The two 6 volt batterys are wired in series but then the series wired pair is wired parallel in the 12 volt complete system along with the 12 volt batteries.

I have two Group 27 batteries in my sailboat wired in parallel and they are charged by an onboard 120V charger. It works just fine. If it normally takes you two hours to charge a single battery it will take four hours to charge two, all things being equal. If your oboard charger is not of sufficient capacity to charge them overnight you might want to invest in a more powerful charger if you are going to have 120VAC avaialble.

Sure charging the batteries for that 12Vdc Trolling motor can easily be done with the Engine Alternator or Converter. Now if you want to go to a higher power 24Vdc trolling motor and like me do not want to disconnect the two 12Vdc series connected batteries all the time. That also is very easy check out Sterling Power Technologies the 30amp device inputs 12Vdc and outputs a proper multistge charge for the 24Vdc battery bank.
