We broke our new Winnebago Vista 35F in this week, drove it 1100 miles from Ohio to Ft. Pierce Florida. None of the things that I worried about happened, it was pretty much a trouble free trip. For an entry level gas powered unit, the Vista ran much better than I thought it wood. No problems going down I-77 through the W. Virginia and Virginia mountains, as suggested on this forum, I kept it at 61 mph all the way down here, and only twice did it down shift into second gear going up the mountains and there were 20 mph head winds that day. It handled very well, no pulling, no vibration, transmission shifted smoothly, the tow haul in cruise control handled 90% of the mountain braking, and it was hard to remember I was towing a Jeep Liberty. Had no problem getting in and out of gas stations and averaged on the three fill ups getting here 6.7 mpg, I was figuring on 5 so I'm happy with what I got. At this point, I found nothing wrong with the unit other than the few things I noted earlier that I found at home. I have one rattle that I can't figure out, but I think it's the light under the microwave, I'm going to take it off when we move on and see how it sounds and the front windows are loud, I'll work on that while I'm here. I hope the rest of our trip, 9 more weeks, goes just as well. Thanks for all of the tips everyone gave me over the last couple months since I bought this, I've used most if not all of the advice found here.

I'm glad your first trip was a success, just don't cancel you forum subscription. You might need it one day or be able to help someone else with your experience.

What a great way to start RV'ing! We've had both, a good first experience and then got a bad coach. Nice to have the good experience!

It's kinda sad when the news is that the first trip was not a nightmare rather than the first trip was a blast.

Here's to many more 'blasts' than nightmares.

If the light under your microwave is part of a range hood/vent, it may be the damper in the vent rattling. There's normally a pin or spring you can push to lock the damper closed when traveling. Just something to check.

Sounds like things are the way they should be. An added bonus is better fuel mileage on top of it. Hopefully the rest of your trip will go as good. Enjoy your new RV.
