Looking at camping in the Keys after Christmas next year for 10 days or so. Looking for a campground that has pool, shuffleboard, tennis, hot tub and things for the kids. DS17 and DD 15. Looked on the net but a lot of web sites are not that good to look at. Looked at Key Largo Kampground and Sunshine Key RV Resort which is really expensive.

Thanks for the input.

You want a campground with all the ammenities in the winter in the Keys, it's going to cost $$$. That is the main reason the SPs are so hard to get into, folks want to camp somewhere that is not so expensive.

We stayed at the KOA on Sugarloaf Key. They had a pool, outdoor bar, activities (tie dye shirts), swimming area in bay/ocean area with floating inflatable things etc. I don't think they had some of the other things you mentioned in your post. We had a good time there.

All places in the Keys are $$$! We went there for the winter for 20 years and after it started getting really, crowded and expensive we just stopped altogether!
We liked Jolly Roger, but no pool. It is near marathon and 25 miles to keywest. the sunshine key place is big gravel parking lot. check for knight key also. in order to get a state park, DW and I would get up early with 2 Laptops and pound the enter key at 8am a year in advance! You are competing against folks all over the world.

You are going at a peak time. It is going to be $100/nite or thereabouts for anything decent.

The Keys are a natural wonder what with the reefs and beauty of the ocean but as a family destination, there isn't much to do there except drink, dive and fish. There aren't many or any white sandy beaches, everything is expensive, shopping is limited and driving can be tedious. Bahia Honda State PArk has a decent sandy beach but you better get there early in the AM because by 10:00AM the park is full and the line of cars waiting to get in is long. One car out, one car in.

Key West has cruise ships now and when one is in, you can hardly walk around or get a seat in an overpriced restaurant. The kids WILL get to observe many alternative lifestyles.

Not trying to sound negative; I (still) love the Keys but I don't go during the peak anymore. And I have pretty much given up on KW. We stay around Marathon now. Knights Key RV.

Plus BIG mosquitoes...and litte no seeums!! And if there is even a fender bender on the 100 mile two lane you can easily sit for two hours baking in the sun.

We were at Sunshine Key for two weeks after Christmas. The weather was perfect, and there were no bugs.

Yes, Sunshine Key looks like a big of a parking lot from the road, but there are some very nice waterfront and marina sites. What we loved about it is that we could walk up to the bridge in the morning and watch the sunrise, then fish off that same bridge all day. In the evening we could walk to the bridge on the other side and watch the sunset. We launched our kayaks right from the campground and paddled the perimeter of the island. You can fish right from the bridge which is right there at the campground.

It's expensive, as all cg's in the Keys are...unless you get a reservation at a state park. Next year we will wait until after New years week because the crowds got a little better.

We LOVED the Keys and are planning a month at the end of March.

Sunshine Key has no hot but, but it does have the other activities you requested, including a game room for the kids.

You can see pictures on my blog..listed on my profile.

Blue Water Key has all your looking for and is a beautiful resort, really pricey at that time of year though.

Jolly Roger is a good park close to a lot of shopping and good bars and food places. We will be there in a week and they are one of the less costly but nothing is cheap.

I'll second Jolly Roger in Marathon, but they surely don't have pool, shuffleboard, tennis, or hot tub. They do have a swimming area gulf side, but I wasn't impressed with it.
