We're planning another trip out west! Has anyone stayed at Paradise on the River RV Park in Estes Park, CO? We would like water and electric hookups, but don't care about TV or lots of entertainment. Just the mountains.....that's enough.

It is apparently not very popular. I live in Loveland 25 miles downstream and have never heard of it. The RV parks around Estes park leave a lot to be desired. I've always wondered why as it would appear to be a great place to have a good RV park. We always go to Moraine Park in RMNP. They have no hookups but you can't beat the views!

We always stay at Riverview RV park in Loveland. The drive into Estes Park is beautiful.

Paradise is down along the river. Very tight and small spaces and tough to get in to in general. Very small operation. Had heard that a few years ago the same people that bought Elk Meadow and Spruce bought this also. Can't verify that.

We did Spruce Lake RV park a couple years ago. OK place. Right on the river. stocked fishing pond. Not far from town or park entrance.

Thinking of doing RMNP again this year. Thinking of a CG inside the park. We will be later in June so no need for AC.

In 2010, we stayed at the KOA in the south side of Estes Park. The sites were small and close together. The staff was great and they guided all campers to their sites. If we get the chance to visit RMNP again, we will use KOA again. Beautiful scenery photographed from our site. If you are using Garmin, it will tell you that you reached your location about six miles south of the KOA.

Have to agree with mtnman about Moraine campground. Stayed there for a week and loved it. Of course, we don't mind no hookups and always prefer the campgrounds within the national parks over the commerical parks. Great views and deer wondering through all the time. I could also be the great deal on our Senior pass as well!

I'm just wondering about the Moraine CG, does it have some sites suitable for a larger rig? I don't care if the back has to hang off the back of the pad & not use stabilizers. Don't care if it is a little difficult to get into either.

Understand that it is busy on weekends so we will try to arrive on Mon-Thur since we never know when we will be where.

Ambience of a CG outweighs stuff like FHU, cable, satelite reception every time.

Mary's Lake used to be a less than good private campground. When the county bought it we heard it had been fixed up some but not sure.

We are going back to the area this summer - passing thru. Staying at Riverview in Loveland.

The campgrounds in RMNP are great if you don't want hookups; there is not a decent rv park in Estes anymore IMHO. When we lived there (1995-2003) Elk Meadow was good but it is now just average at best - and expensive. The last time we stayed at Elk Meadow - maybe 4 years ago - the staff was so fed up with it all that the manager couple and 3 other couples walked out on 4th of July.
