I have a Forest River 18ft. travel trailer. The dry weight is 4400lbs. I am accounting for another 1000lbs. in people, supplies, bikes, etc...
I am looking at a 2008 Dodge 1500 Ram 5.7l. The truck has a tow capacity of 7700lbs.
Is this vehicle a realistic choice to tow my trailer and supplies?
Thanks!

I have a TT 08 Passport 20'(no slide) about 4000#+1000#junk=5000# and tow with 05 Toyota Tacoma (mid size) truck, tow rating is 6500#. I think its 1/2ton truck..don't know. It tows fine for 2-4 trips, avg 1000miles each way.....But with out my Hensley arrow tow thing, it makes for a long 1000miles....and frankly not a good idea.
I assume also the tow rating is for a flat trailer with that max weight.... Cause when you take max.. x big billboard box thing, it like leaving the park brakes on. So I stayed well under my max rating.

I get great gas mileage pulling my 4200LB loaded POPUP trailer using 3:73 gears but of course I dont have any wind resistance. My truck listed below gets 20-21 MPG whether I am pulling my POPUP or not... You should do well with your planned setup...

You should not have any trouble. I pull a trailer of about the same weight with my F150 5.4, sometimes with a ATV in the back and have never had an issue.

You should be fine with that combo.
But a tip for you and anyone else that may read this; Do not go by the dry weight numbers from the manufacturer. It is a mostly phony number for a fictitious trailer with no equipment. Everyone should ignore the dry weight number and only consider the GVWR. The GVWR will be on the legally mandated ID tag typically located at the outside left front.
If you can tow the GVWR, you can tow the trailer. No one tows an empty trailer.

Plenty of truck for your trailer.
Expect 9-10 mpg while towing travel trailer, but that is the norm.
Does your truck have tow package / transmission cooler?
