A couple of years ago I stayed in a campground close to Huntsville, TX that was a PPA park. I was going to be there for about 20 days and asked if they would honor the PPA rate for the time. The lady said I will do better than that. She gave me a daily rate based on the monthly rate...(Monthly Rate/30 days)*20 days. This was cheaper than the 50% discount on their daily rate. I have had others to give me the PPA rate on black out dates as well. You just have to ask.

Doesn't apply in any park I know for month terms or longer. Don't know why. Any other thoughts from old timers?

If you take the monthly rate (or longer) and divide it by 30 you will see that the per nightly charge is lower than the overnight/daily rate. That's why discounts are NOT applicable to monthly (or longer) stays....you are already getting a 'discounted' rate.

Yes, you are getting a discounted rate but, you don't need any membership card for that. I think it would be beneficial for the parks to offer the 10% on all their rates. They would likely get people to stay longer if they did and membership sales would also increase. Win-win for all.

10% discount typically applies to daily rate....not on weekly or monthly rates
I'm surprised at the 'no blackout dates' statement because:
Any CG can set any 'restrictions'....'limitations'.....'Not applicable' dates they want.
It's their private business and allowing discounts (any) is at their discretion.
Good Sam or any other discount program does not dictate how they run their business.....Good Sam doesn't own the CG's

You are quite right, Good Sam can not dictate how they run their business. However Good Sam can dictate who can be a Good Sam Park so if they want the advantage of being listed as a Good Sam Park they have to follow the Good Sam criteria.

I recently booked a month at a Good Sam Club Park. Not realizing, as it is my first time, that we are supposed to get a 10% discount for being a member.
So, I call back the next day (to reservations) and mention the discount and they said; Not in February!
I am looking at all the Good Sam's paperwork and it says 10% off, with no blackout dates!
I contacted Good Sam's Club (customer service), then pretty much said nothing they can do about a refund and or discount. Any thoughts??

We don't bother using Good Sam's Club for camping. The 10% is a joke when you read all the restrictions and rules involved. You'd do better looking for a cheaper CG.

Morning, from Picacho Peak, AZ. Somewhat like you, I was discomfited, the first time, by not getting a Good Sam reduction. Since then, I've realized that those 10 per cent breaks are for overnight or short term folks. Doesn't apply in any park I know for month terms or longer. Don't know why. Any other thoughts from old timers?

Unless something changed, they don't apply for weekends or holidays either. What use is 10% off for one or two nights during the week when most people are working?
