After reading a lot of post on what's the best 5th wheel hitch. I got to talking to a fellow Rver and friend about this subject. We both have the B&W hitch and love it, as most B&W owners do. My friend watched a gut drop is 5er not once but twice on the bed of his new GM pickup truck. He went over to see if he could help him out. The guy didn't know how to set the latch correctly, and was just beside himself on the damage to his new truck. Not to say the Wife was very happy either.

Then we talked about the ones that buy BED SAVERS.

I here a lot about how expensive the B&W is compared to Reese and the other. But then they go buy a bed saver, which adds about to the price of the hitch to make it comparable of the B&W.

I have seen a lot of guys wrestling with their hitches, and just don't get it.

So if you can't tell if the pin is locked in correctly when you back under it, why would you want that hitch. Now even after I back under and the jaws close and I drop the pin to lock the handle, I do take a look when I'm plugging in and closing the tailgate, and have never found a problem.

Plus I use my bed and need a flat floor and don't want a bed mat or plywood to adjust for the rails.

I know I'll get flamed, but I'll bet all of the B&W owners will agree with me.

Only reason not to get one is if you need a slider.

The B&W is the first 5th hitch I've owned. Probably be the only one for a long, long time.

Now if I only had a more convenient place to store it when out of the truck...

I have a Hijacker--don't know about the comparison to B & W but I know when you back the hitch under the fiver and it goes "clunk", it is locked. No way you can not lock it or drop the fiver on the rails. Did that with another kind of hitch and no way would I buy another one.

Love my B&W. Top notch company. Rock Solid hitch.

I would think the only reason to not buy it was if you had an older 5th wheel not designed for short box pickups and needed a slider.

I love my B&W hitch! It's the only hitch I have had, so I can't comment on the others.

One thing I noticed when comparing hitches is that the B&W jaws are at least twice as thick as the other ones we looked at.

Chest pounder thread for the brand.
I used B&W in several of my trucks when I hauled for a living using my GN and 5th wheel flatbed trailers. Great hitch but there are other systems just as good IMO. However their owners say their brand is better than the B&W.

I've run across a few youtube videos of the B&W flexing and twisting underneath a gooseneck trailer.

Have you guys noticed anything like that?

only with a overloaded trailer once. 20K tandum dually deck over with way more than 20k worth of hay. it buckeled the sheet metal of the bed right behind the hitch about 3/16 of an inch.

I think it may of had to do with the combination of driving through the rough field and being overloaded. Either way still a great hitch.
