Driving back from Palm Springs yesterday on I10, I was passed by a MH with it's crankup TV Antenna extended. They were drving so fast that I could not catch them. I will bet they lost it at the first normal overpass. Sorry for them. Just a reminder.

Our daughter called to tell us about an RV with the antenna up on the Interstate. Seems all the Trucks were trying to signal to them with no success. Apparently one of them had the right idea, because she said they soon passed a Trooper on the side who got their attention with blue lights and siren. Sometimes you have to use a baseball bat.

This is the reason before we leave any CG we check ALL angles of the RV. There is an easy ladder to quickly climb up on the back. We do a check, top, look under, side, back front side. It's a simple inspection.

4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

Our antenna is automatic and there is an idiot light on the dash to let me know when it's up.

Otherwise, I've heard it's a good idea to hang the ignition keys from the crank on the antenna so when it's time to start the MoHo.... you will crank down the antenna.

I added a piezo buzzer in addition to the idiot light on the dash. You can't miss it now.

7 or 8 years ago I just started driving home (still in the campground). I had this "I think I forgot something feeling". Just then I saw my own shadow and there it was. Sticking straight up.

Pulled over, rolled it down and drove away with some rosy red cheeks...lol...

A couple of years ago I was walking and noticed a TT at a stoplight with the antenna up. Caught the passenger's attention and told them about it. Response was "we know. It's broken", with a kind of 'mind your own business' attitude. I walked away...I imagine it was more broken further down the road!

I've got a rubber band twist type looking thing that I put on the antenna crank. I have to take it off to raise the antenna so as soon as I take it off I attach it to the steering wheel. I can't say how many times I've sat down ready to start the engine when I see the rubber band and stand back up to crank down the antenna. If I relied on memory alone I would have been through a dozen antennas by now.

My wife hangs a small wind chime on the antenna crank. Can't miss the sound as the coach is moving.
